…..I do not like John McCain.
I like socialist women and the most liberal senator in America less, far less. Our party’s primaries have been hijacked by casual voters, liberals, moderates and even Democrats.
Our Evangelical friends have to shoulder much of the blame for giving us McCain. They have unfairly called Mormonism a cult and now all of us will suffer the consequences …I’m damned mad about this, but I can’t do anything about it. [ McCain] will be elected. America will not select either Democrat over him. Many Hillary hating Democrats will vote for McCain.
..the conservative radio talkers did all they could. They are now the de facto leaders of the conservative movement. …accept facts. Some of them insist McCain can’t win. I very much disagree.
Each conservative has to make a personal decision. We can swing wild in blind anger or carefully think things through. If you are old enough to vote, you are old enough to have been disappointed or you really haven’t lived much of a life. We don’t always get our way. If we jump wrong now, out of anger and frustration, we will insure …putting America, no our own families in danger. The danger of picking wrong at this point is history can not be over stated. …grievances against John McCain are [not] unimportant. They are very important. [but]we seem to be losing the fact that vicious Islamist terrorists want to kill us and will kill us and our children if we have the wrong Commander in Chief. ..a willingness to put aside the importance ..war against terror and make believe a Hillary Clinton or a Barack Obama would keep us safe from further attack is where I step off of the anti- McCain bandwagon. I like to think big picture, like an adult. The scenario is having Hilary or Obama make Jimmy Carter look like Abe Lincoln. Then in 4 years we can elect anyone we choose. If we can live for 4 years by not having Al Queda detonate a nuke in a major city it may work. Short term thinking is the “McCain is our only hope” thinking.
I hate this election year!
I agree 1000% Local work to get CONSERVATIVE reps is (as usual, I guess) very important.
A wise post. We as conservatives can put zero pressure on Hillary or Obama, but we can exert some influence on McCain.

Don’t care anymore. Vote for whoever. This race has gotten boring and predictable. The only thing that needs to happen to finish my prediction is for Hillary to swear in. In fact, why wait until November, just do it now. What in the world is wrong in America?
We get this same argument 10 times a day now. 180 some days till the election X 10 = 1800 more times to listen to it. I could hear it 180,000 more times and the answer is still no, I won’t vote for him.
Its not that he won’t be “better” its what the GOP is asking us to conceed that is troubling.
Cut spending, better judges, same on taxes, loves the military.
Obama/Hillary: raised taxes, raised spending, hate military, Ginsberg replaced with younger Ginsberg clone and we still get amnesty because we could really lose in Congress if too many people stay home.
McCain will win because once Conservatives cool down and consider the alternatives, McCain looks good.
Call me cynical. I believe that when all the counts are final, and all the analyses are completed, we will find that conservatives by the millions sat home and did not vote in the primaries through Super Tuesday. The other half of the Republican Party was denied a chance to even select a candidate. Think about that.
Oh look another “Get in line and tow the party line” post. Sorry. This troop is going off the reservation. McCain can KISS MY HAIRY WHITE @$$. Actions speak louder than words and McCain’s actions speak volumes about how liberal he is.
McCain will NEVER look good to most conservatives. The whole idea that we must follow the R's just because a D is worse is ridiculous. I am willing to have four years of Hill or Obama. Let the dims have the power they have been yelling about for 8 years. We had the power and what happened? Not a thing changed. Time to send a clear message to the GOP.
That's what I told myself in 1992... 4 years, then they'll all see they should have listened to us, then surely we can take back the White House... Of course it didn't work that way. Four years turned into 8 years and almost 12 years had Gore succeeded in suing his way into the White House. Personally I think plenty of damage was done in those 8 years of Clinton. We may not have as much influence with McCain as we'd like... we have no influence over Billary Obama especially if we demonstrate defeat.

There are only several explanations for the fact that we haven't been hit again, at least in the manner of the 911 attacks. If you believe the reason is that they saw the response from Bush is part of it and they want no more of that, there's the notion that a Dem President will be tested.
What would be the Obamama response to an attack of a 911 scale? My gut says we may find out.

One thing McCain will do is sort out the real conservatives from the fake ones. The fake ones will justify anything to vote for McCain....totally ignoring his liberal record.
The GOP needs more of campaign platform than “we cant let Hillary/Obama win”. Its a sure loser...and shows the GOP candidate is very weak. You cant campaign on McCain’s record.
In the long run, it will do us more good to watch McCain become a 50-state loser in 2008. It will usher the return of conservatism to the GOP

Even if we do cool down and vote for McCain, and that’s a big if at this point, Republican’s will remain uninspired by this guy. The grassroots of the Republican Party are conservatives and that’s a fact. I don’t believe you will see people working for McCain like they worked for Bush. Perhaps the moderate-liberal wing of the party will organize but it takes a long time. We’ll see.
Democrats are out for blood no matter who their nominee is. They turned out 25 million so far in this primary season, we’ve turned out 12.5 million. This is telling.
