Men have basicly been supporting themselves and their families for hundreds of years.

Yes, but they had stay-at-home wives taking care of their kids and the home. Single women do not have that. Many of them make less money than men and have to pay for day care, too. When the kids are sick, the moms have to call in absent to work and it jeopardizes their jobs. That's why these women feel more vulnerable and want a government "safety net." I'm not excusing the women who purposely have babies out of wedlock and then demand the government pay for them. I'm talking about women who find themselves single because their husbands died, left them, abused them, etc.

There are a lot of men on *disability*, the major perk being government funded medical care and opiate scripts. Those are often the same men these women are involved with. In one instance, the husband was on disability and when they divorced, he received food stamps and a housing subsidy (maybe heat, as well?)because the wife’s disability income was gone after the divorce. She, OTOH, was penalized with reduced benefits since she was sharing an apartment with an adult daughter and since she worked the maximum number of hours (18/week) she was allowed before her Medicaid was cut.

I have learned that there is an entire subculture living like this. Men, women, their late teen children. It was almost like learning about the Travelers.

You're quite right about this. We've all become part-time slaves in a way that the pre-WWII generations would never have imagined.

Ah, but Clinton/Obama/Kennedy are trying to pass laws that exempt women from having to negotiate higher pay.

They just have to get a lawyer and file a “equal pay” lawsuit, or just threaten to, and the employer will have to comply.

Another piece of garbage they’re pushing is in the “Civil Rights Act of 2008” - if there is “disparate outcome” of pay or hiring, the employer can be sued for discrimination, even if the policy itself is non-discriminatory.

This could force financial institutions to hire felons because of the “disparate outcome” in hiring for excluding them.

Yes, but these women usually don’t dump these creeps. THEY get dumped, when the guy finds a bigger meal ticket. However, I don’t think you would be interested in women like this. There are countless stupid women out there who blather things, like, “I was just trying to help him out,” after which the guy leaves them and does not pay them back. Dumb ox stupid.

Can you back that statement up with anything other than anecdotal evidence?

Now, don’t give me a bunch of stats that you drummed up from heaven knows where (proof please or your stats). I know too many single women and the stories of their marriages to not know what’s going on here...Not saying it doesn’t happen, but the dumped man who did no wrong is a rare species in the scheme of things.

Perhaps you should provide some proof of your own statements before requesting the same from others.

I don't deny that there are plenty of women who have been wronged out there. But there are plenty of men who've been treated unfairly as well. If you don't believe me, just check out some of these "Wimmin 'r Evil" threads. I don't think the anecdotal evidence given by either side conclusively proves that their sex is the one getting the short end of the stick.

I suspect the truth is that men and women make bad spouses in about equal numbers. We may express our flaws in different ways, and cause different issues in relationships, but all told I think dysfunction is spread pretty evenly between men and women.

I have a plan to stop this nonsense. It's radical (radically conservative) but I think it could work.

Congress could simply pass a law denying citizenship to any child born in America that is NOT born into a recognized male-female marriage. Dumb 20 year old slut gets knocked up? Her kid won't be a citizen. We can create a new class of people -- call them "Bastard Aliens" or "Bastard Residents", whatever. They'll still be allowed to live and work here, but they won't be able to vote, hold office or collect government benefits.

I estimate that within 30 - 40 years of such a law entering into effect that most of America will be conservative by default, as a new generation of young, conservative raised-by-mom-and-dad citizens will be the only ones able to vote. Think about it!
