The Supreme Court ruled Monday on three cases related to the First Amendment. It struck down limits on some campaign ads, restricted when taxpayers may sue over government aid to faith groups, and ruled against a teen and his “Bong Hits for Jesus” banner. Our constitution at work :)

— A divided Supreme Court upheld the broadest restrictions on campaign donations in nearly 30 years Wednesday, ruling the nation is better off with limits on the financial influence of deep-pocket donors even if money never can be divorced from politics.

Rooting out corruption, or even the appearance of it, justifies limitations on the free speech and free spending of contributors, candidates and political parties, the court said in a 5-4 decision.

“We are under no illusion that [the law] will be the last congressional statement on the matter,” Justices John Paul Stevens and Sandra Day O’Connor wrote for the majority. “Money, like water, will always find an outlet. What problems will arise, and how Congress will respond, are concerns for another day.”

Aye - Cornyn seems, from this Texas view point, a better man than McCain; better than most in the Senate. Far better than his senior colleague from Texas, who is not fit to be dog catcher.

Mccain is a good man he will make a fine president.

McCain is a political opportunist, backstabbing RINO. I didn't pay much attention to him until he was running for Prez in 2000. He opposed Bush at every turn afterward. He is MORE a Democrat LIBERAL than a Conservative. Note McCain-Feingold (political free speech suppression!), McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman and etc. He voted AGAINST the Bush Tax Cuts in 2001 and 2003. He is FOR amnesty for illegals, open borders. Etc., etc., etc.

McCain is poison. He will do YEARS and YEARS of damage to the GOP if he gets the nod. His lying about his CONSERVATISM for starters!!

HERE'S your RINO nominee!:

Cornyn is a member of the Council on foreign Relations, along with McNut and his buddy george Soros.

He has the job of pushing the North American Investment Trust Fund, which will steal us blind to build infrastructure and free healthcare for Mexico.

He’s not our friend.

I see the big picture, & am not off my rocker either. I see a man who has a bad temper, is insulting & has made some bad mistakes. I am not too happy about your man being 71 yrs old either. I see he has a total different idea about immigration then most of us. I see Juan Hernandez who I think is a snake. In fact I don’t see anything I do like . I don’t see any wonderful big picture ahead for us at all.

McCain has written a bill and gotten it passed, with the help of his democRat buddy Feingold, to suppress free speech.

What the courts do, or the media does, to counter McCain’s usurpation of what is constitutional is besides the point.

You are nothing but an apologist for a corrupt man, someone who is no conservative. Calling him one does not make him one; he is anything but that.

Did you hear his CPAC rant on judicial appointments, that their sole job will be to "enforce the laws passed by the people's legislators"--

There are three branches, and enforcement is the perogative of the executive; legislation of the legislative; interpretation that of the judicial--

What McCain dared not mention was the Constitution--

For he stands out as the traitor of all time, having trampled the First Amendment, the mother of all liberty.

I cannot endorse McCain for that crime alone.

Yet the hollow men line up to croak his praises, their words turning to dust in their mouths.

There will be a settling of accounts.
