Weep for Texas - John Cornyn endorses McCain
email from Sen Cornyn | 7 Feb 2008 | John Cornyn

Posted on 02/07/2008 5:35:31 PM PST by Manfred the Wonder Dawg

I wanted to tell you personally about a conversation that I had with Senator McCain earlier today before his CPAC speech.

In this time of war and economic uncertainty, America must have strong, principled leadership. The first and foremost priority of the federal government is National Security, and, we must have a President who will do what is needed to protect America and the American people. It is imperative that we have a Commander in Chief who will not bow to pressure when the political waters become rough. As a fellow member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I have witnessed John McCain’s principled leadership on critical national security issues.

I, like most of you, am deeply concerned with wasteful and excessive Washington spending, and I have also worked side by side with John McCain taking on special interests and fighting the tough battles on behalf of the American taxpayer. While it is true that we have had some principled disagreements on some issues, including certain areas of immigration reform, John McCain is a man of principle and conviction. He shares my deep commitment to reaching a comprehensive solution to immigration reform and I look forward to working with him on this issue when he is President.

With the recent decision by a number of the other candidates to step aside, now is the time for the Republican Party to come together and stand behind Senator McCain. For these reasons, I am honored to endorse him for President of the United States today and will do whatever I can to support his candidacy.

Sincerely, John Cornyn

Yep. But, they’ll be baaaaaaaaack! Just like the roaches and rats, that slink around in the night, when no one’s looking. Their little beady, red eyes, darting around - waiting to sneak in again, and devour what they can, before they go into hiding, once again.

I say let’s not vote any incumbent back into office. There are plenty of good people out there.

Best idea in a long long time.

I am not a spoiled brat - I want the elected officials to realize this is a constitutional republic, not grab-bag of goodies with which to buy votes and grow government. We’ve had too many compromises. McCain is a compromise too far.

Just ignore the old gal and Don't feed the troll!

McCain tells him “F-— You” and “ChickenSh-t” and Cornyn gives him an endorsement? Does everyone just fall in line like lemmings?

I can understand why spending should be cut in congress along with tax cuts. makes sense to me.
We are at war and war isnt cheap in money and lives.
I hope all conservatives come together. the thought of an obama presidency or clinton ..............
Obama is drawing in the American Idol fans. that to me is creepy. all of his speeches are about change. but nothing of substance. Dems are having a personality contest.
BTW i see women going gaga over bama. MY gender is embarrassing me *L* they are going to vote for president because they have the hots for candidate? *L*

for one I am not a troll and for another talk about irritating and abrasive look in the mirror.
I am a republican and I am a conservative. But I am not a koolaid drinking conservative. I see the big picture not just a little portion

And do what? Forsake our principles?

So having a firm belief in the Constitution qualifies one as being a Kool-Aid drinking conservative?

I see the McCain campaign has yet to provide you with a keyboard with a consistently working caps key.

You want purity? Your not going to get it.And lets face it in a general election a pure conservative will not win. Well shoot they wont even make it pass the primaries!
Allan Keyes is 100 percent with conservatives. But many think he is off his rocker ! and btw he is on the ballot :)

You want purity?

Snort. Nice try.

Thomas Paine said it best....

A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice.

But I'm willing to listen. Tell me how I can vote for McCain without chucking my principles and if you convince me, I'll vote for the guy.

But if you can't come up with something a whole heckuva lot better than that purity canard, save us both some time and don't even bother to try.

So why aren’t you supporting Allan Keyes? If you are voting on principles and he is your idea of principled and goes your way 100 percent? Why ? :)

What is Cornyn supposed to do, tell everyone that the man who it seems has won the right to carry the party banner is a no good jerk and call on his fellow Texans to vote for the democrat? It is called being a good republican and supporting the party which in his position he must do. People fall back and get a grip, I don’t like McCain, don’t trust him but to come unglued because Cornyn did what he had to do is just wrong.

Sheesh, that's not an argument. It's a...list, for Pete's sake.

Ping me back if you can come up with a decent argument, okay? :)
