Weep for Texas - John Cornyn endorses McCain
email from Sen Cornyn | 7 Feb 2008 | John Cornyn

Posted on 02/07/2008 5:35:31 PM PST by Manfred the Wonder Dawg

I wanted to tell you personally about a conversation that I had with Senator McCain earlier today before his CPAC speech.

In this time of war and economic uncertainty, America must have strong, principled leadership. The first and foremost priority of the federal government is National Security, and, we must have a President who will do what is needed to protect America and the American people. It is imperative that we have a Commander in Chief who will not bow to pressure when the political waters become rough. As a fellow member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I have witnessed John McCain’s principled leadership on critical national security issues.

I, like most of you, am deeply concerned with wasteful and excessive Washington spending, and I have also worked side by side with John McCain taking on special interests and fighting the tough battles on behalf of the American taxpayer. While it is true that we have had some principled disagreements on some issues, including certain areas of immigration reform, John McCain is a man of principle and conviction. He shares my deep commitment to reaching a comprehensive solution to immigration reform and I look forward to working with him on this issue when he is President.

With the recent decision by a number of the other candidates to step aside, now is the time for the Republican Party to come together and stand behind Senator McCain. For these reasons, I am honored to endorse him for President of the United States today and will do whatever I can to support his candidacy.

Sincerely, John Cornyn

FYI, I don’t post rumors. Everything I post can always be documented. If you were willing to take the time to check - you would find that what I posted is verifiable. Like I always told my kids, “I will not do your homework for you.”

True conservatives are VERY reticent to welcome this candidate, John McCain, with open arms - with VERY good reason.

Note: I said “TRUE Conservatives”.

Welcome him with open arms? Heck...he can have a boot from me and that's all I'll give him!

No Liberal Leaders for Republican Party (David Limbaugh)

Sure, if I'm a paid staffer for McCain or a high-school debater forced to take the affirmative side of the proposition that McCain is a conservative, I can make a colorable case — intellectual honesty be damned — that he's a conservative. But I am under no such constraints.

Getting 50 endorsements from well-placed Republican officials or even respected conservatives doesn't make McCain conservative. Being a conservative makes one a conservative. I bet, truth be told, McCain can't even stand the word.

The Real McCain

McCain: Surprisingly Liberal

McCain: "Clean Government" More Important Than 1st Amendment [video]

Transcribed:

McCain: "He also mentioned about my abridgment of First Amendment Rights, i.e., talking about Campaign Finance Reform. My response to that criticism is I work in Washington and I know that money corrupts and I and a lot of other people were trying to stop that corruption and obviously from what we’ve been seeing lately we didn’t complete the job. But...I would rather have a clean government than one whose quote First Amendment Rights are being respected that has become corrupt....if I had my choice I would rather have a clean government......[chuckle]"

Bill of Rights * Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting
an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or
abridging the freedom of speech, or
of the press; or
the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to
petition the government for a redress of grievances.

IOWs the Constitution is just a big joke to you and we should all shut up and get back to picking cotton for the state.

It is understood that we are screwed. Now What?

Well....that's the problem....if one were of the mind, they'd begin to wonder if this wasn't planned. There will be no conservative in office. It appears there will be either a democrat with an R after their name or an actual monster at least willing to admit what they are. I understand exactly why Ann Coulter said what she said. The farm may well be more easily given away with the wolf in sheep's clothing because the other "R"'s will then have to say, "they" can't go against the "R" in office.....

Nathan Arizona Sr.: You know what I think? I think you're an evil man. I think this is a shakedown. It's nothing but a Goddamn screw-job.
