We’ve passed up the most qualified person running for President in this campaign.

"ROMNEY: -- and finding and executing Osama Bin Laden; and I agree with him on eliminating Al-Qaeda and terror worldwide. Now, if I fight on in my campaign all the way to convention -- I want you to know, I gave this a lot of thought -- I forestall the launch of a national campaign. And, frankly, I'd be making it easier for Senator Clinton or Obama to win. Frankly, in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror."
Very important point. I may not like voting McCain for President, but I sure as hell not going to make my vote help Hillary or Obama become President while we are IN A WAR!
imho

So now what's going to happen is all of us are going to say, "Okay, who's the conservative alternative? Are you going to go to Huckabee now, Rush?" There is no conservative alternative in the race. It's just that simple.Yup.

Romney should have been as aggressive before today, now we are screwed.

I collected signatures to place Mr. Romney on our congressional district ballot. I will be voting for him. :-)

I think this move by Romney is brilliant! He is a very smart man and could see that continuing his campaign would become a negative for him and for the party in general. At some point the party needs to pull together and rally around our candidate even if he is not our first choice. Romney is a leader and has clearly stated through his actions that the time to come together is now and I think he is right.

Mitt Romney’s claim to be a conservative standard-bearer was at completely at odds with his past stances on the issues. It gave him a credibility problem that he was never able to overcome. That problem also makes him unlikely to be John McCain’s running mate.

I’ve been for Mitt from the very beginnings of his campaign, and he has made me proud of that choice from beginning to end.

Mitt did give a good speech. Bottom line: He’s one of the good guys.
Off topic, but McCain also gave a good speech.

I cannot say that I am proud to have voted for Romney, but it felt better than voting for guys named Bush or Dole.

There will be little recognition of the support given to the Mormon, Mitt Romney. No voter will be recognized for their religious tolerance, or their open-minded view of one from another religion. The media tried to cast Romney as a freak and continues to ignore the vast support he received by so many across the Country.
Romney was the last card in my hand I was willing to play. For those who live a state likely to go Democrat, would it hurt to fold and walk away from the table?

It was a good speech but the one he gave at the Bush Presidential Library was great. I’m sorry to see him go. Of course I was sorry to see Duncan and then Fred go as well. They’re gonna be writing books about this one for years to come.

Romney has been giving speeches like this all along. It’s just that the media doesn’t cover them. McCain had a good 50 million bucks worth, minuimum, of free advertising and puff pieces from them. Rush started to clue in with the Faith in America speech which he called the best thing to come out of the primaries. Most of their time about Mitt was all negative.
