Omaha, Nebraska

In 2008, the Global Network will hold its 16th Annual Space Organizing Conference and Protest outside this Strategic Command. Hundreds of people from around the world will come to Omaha from April 11 13, 2008 to learn first-hand about this military installation that operates in Americas heartland. For the first time, world citizens will gather to shine a light on what StratCom has become.
Located in the heart of the nation, just south of Omaha, Nebraska, the U.S. Strategic Command (StratCom) for years has been the site from which a nuclear war would be controlled. Since 9/11, its mission has expanded to become command central in the U.S.s War on Terror and for the U.S. plans to dominate space militarily.
This New StratCom is responsible for overseeing any Global First Strikes, the National Security Agency, and Ballistic Missile Defense. Thus, StratCom:
Has already drawn up the war plans for a space-directed assault on Irans nuclear facilities and - upon approval from the President - will execute the attack;
Is spying on Americans from above with its satellite surveillance network by overseeing warrantless wiretaps on the ground;
Is authorized to attack any place on earth within one hour (using both conventional and nuclear weapons) under the White Houses Doctrine of Preemption if the President "suspects" a threat to Americas national interests;
Is reviving the Cold War by pointing anti-ballistic missile installations at Russia from Eastern Europe and by containing China militarily with a ring of bases and naval destroyers from which to launch a first strike.
StratCom today is the most dangerous place on the face of the earth. It is secretive. Its mission is destabilizing. It operates outside the law. And its transformation has occurred so quickly, most of the world is completely unaware of its missions and dangers.
As things now stand, the next war the White House initiates will be planned, launched, and directed by StratCom. Building global awareness is essential if we are to get StratCom to back away from the brink.

My cousin, Phil, flew for the Army for 22 years, retired as a WO4 - and he seemed to enjoy it.
It’s a fantasic base. When you go in, the runway stops right at a road about 35 to 45 feet above the road, we you go in and one of those jets are taking off, it’s thrill to have it go right over your head that close. Course I haven’t been there in about 10 years, so it may have changed, but every summer they have an airshow that’s free to go to and a half million people go to it in 2 or 3 days. The cadets are so nice, and everyone is friendly.
Thanks for the head’s up from Northwest Missouri ping
I thought helos were mostly piloted by NCO’s, not officers.
Has that changed?
Never mind counter-protests, I want the (tofu) hot dog concession!
Poor people can’t afford to jet set off to Nebraska from around the world, I smell opportunity.

Will the nearby Corn Palace be able to handle the extra traffic? I’ve been meaning to get a post card of the rightly-famous corncob Mt. Rushmore.
I thought helos were specifically piloted by Warrant Officers.
That could be.
They start out as EM and achieve WO.
THe Air Force. We only deploy if it has a Howard Johnson there with room service, and a golf course. But, to fly helos you gotta go Army, Marines, even Navy. Very few helo pilots in USAF.
You mean, like this?
Ooh baby...she's so, so...svelt, that's what she is. Just check out those fenders on her, would 'ya? Whoa, baby...and that strong lookin' strut going from 'er fender, all the way to her wing...wow!..and that tail! Big 'ol boxy twin tail rudders just turn me on! Start my engines! Whoa!
[heheheheh]
Actually, to pilot anything in the AF one has to be an officer. But they have other flying jobs that are enlisted: Load Master, Gunner, Flight Engineer, Boom Operator (cool job, passing fuel to other planes) and those are just the ones I know about.
To be a pilot or a navigator in the AF one has to be an officer. Go to college and join ROTC or finish college and go to OTS. Or if he's got time he can apply to the Academy and go to college there. A minumun of a BS/BA is required for commissioning.
There are flying jobs for enlisted in the AF and probably the other services. I only know about the AF.
Evasive Action? Heck no!! Your brothers are excited about the possibility of a counter-protest!
I live close, so I may just have to gather up some buddies this year and "debate" these protesting little phlegm-wads!
Odd...I used to ride around in Air Force HH-53 Pavelows, HH-60 Pavehawks and such. I'm pretty sure they were Air Force. I was wearing an Air Force uniform, just like the air crews were wearing.
Air Force flies helos - we just don't talk about it much. :)
