Whacko Protest planned outside Offutt AFB, NE
The Global Network ^

GN’s 2008 Space Conference April 11-13, 2008

Omaha, Nebraska

See: Agenda Conference Brochure (735KB PDF file) | Conference Flyer (465 PDF file)

In 2008, the Global Network will hold its 16th Annual Space Organizing Conference and Protest outside this Strategic Command. Hundreds of people from around the world will come to Omaha from April 11 – 13, 2008 to learn first-hand about this military installation that operates in America’s heartland. For the first time, world citizens will gather to shine a light on what StratCom has become.

Located in the heart of the nation, just south of Omaha, Nebraska, the U.S. Strategic Command (StratCom) for years has been the site from which a nuclear war would be controlled. Since 9/11, its mission has expanded to become command central in the U.S.’s “War on Terror” and for the U.S. plans to dominate space militarily.

This “New StratCom” is responsible for overseeing any Global “First Strikes,” the National Security Agency, and Ballistic Missile Defense. Thus, StratCom:

Has already drawn up the war plans for a space-directed assault on Iran’s nuclear facilities and - upon approval from the President - will execute the attack;

Is spying on Americans from above with its satellite surveillance network by overseeing “warrantless wiretaps” on the ground;

Is authorized to attack any place on earth within one hour (using both conventional and nuclear weapons) under the White House’s “Doctrine of Preemption” if the President "suspects" a threat to America’s “national interests”;

Is reviving the Cold War by pointing anti-ballistic missile installations at Russia from Eastern Europe and by containing China militarily with a ring of bases and naval destroyers from which to launch a first strike.

StratCom today is the most dangerous place on the face of the earth. It is secretive. Its mission is destabilizing. It operates outside the law. And its transformation has occurred so quickly, most of the world is completely unaware of its missions and dangers.

As things now stand, the next war the White House initiates will be planned, launched, and directed by StratCom. Building global awareness is essential if we are to get StratCom to back away from the brink.

Join us!

There's really nothing I can do about these goons. But it would be a shame if a counter-protest happened outside the base. A real shame.

Don’t we have some kind of Rovian Force Field type of thing around the complex that they can flip on and, like, disintegrate these idiots?

It’s too bad they will all get radiation poisoning from the nuclear paint on the perimeter fence.

Nah, or we’d have used it already. Every August they protest the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, too. Funny, because all of the people at the protests are white, and too young to have been alive in 1945.

I would actually feel bad for 80 year old Japanese. At least a little.

I don't get it. I thought the time to protest something was before it happens, not 63 years after the fact.

Maybe, just maybe this is just a front group for the KGB (whatever it calls itself now)

I seriously doubt the FSB would want anything to do with this bunch of quacks. Useful idiots, nothing more.

Thank goodness my son has so far turned out the opposite of these protesters, with all that comes after him in the media and teen culture.

He is 16 and dreams of flying helicopters, lol, scary.

He says he wants to join the AF, does anyone know if that is the best service to join to fly? Would he have to attend an academy? Be an Officer to fly?

I haven’t begun to look into it yet, and was hoping to learn where to begin.

Thanks to anyone who has some answers!

The Army is his best bet of becoming a helicopter pilot.

But the AF generally treats you better.

Can't fly helicopters in the Air Force, Army and Navy only, possibly Marines. The Army is the best opportunity to fly helos, but they get funny on downsizing pilots. Every so many years they get rid of too many and then have to train more again meaning there are times when they don't need any. It's hit or miss.

Academies and ROTC are great but not required to fly or be an officer in any service. But it helps. The first general requirement for officers training is a Bachelors degree. For the most part one has to be an officer to fly.

What service offers the best opportunities to fly? There you're going to deal with opinions and information that changes constantly.

I was stationed at Offutt in the late 80’s, when it was SAC headquarters. I remember some level of protesting at the gates back then. I think it’s a protest magnet.

Just the fact that these idiots are protesting there, makes me wonder if this place is as important as these idiots think it is.

I suspect they’ll be lucky if they get a dozen moonbats to show up. This is Nebraska, for cripes’ sake. The state’s entire moonbat allocation could fit in a phone booth, with plenty of room left for Chuck Hagel.
