Given his stance on Amnesty and the border, he should give up his citizenship.

See, that’s what I’m wondering here. Appointment laws vary from state to state. In WY, the Democrat Governor was compelled to appoint a Republican (who has turned out to be quite good, and will not be challenged by the party) to Craig Thomas’s Senate seat. Some Governors (such as in OR, IIRC) don’t have the right to appoint at all and must call for a special election.
I was expecting Napolitano to appoint McCain’s friend and RINO-turned-rodent ex-AG Grant Woods to the vacancy.

I don’t know the appointment laws in Arizona. Perhaps a Freeper from there does.

Apparently some folks have never heard of Lincoln Chafee. Or Olympia Snowe.
(Feel free to add to this list)

Oops. The statute says it clearly: must be from the same political party as the incumbent. Nappy will find the weakest RINO possible.

Yhey all should resign, they almost forced Dole to do it when he ran.
Poor Harry can’t run a vote because they aren’t there to back him.

I believe he is running to throw the election to Hillary.
Think West Virginia on a massive scale.
A dirty deal made to enable the rats.
It fits.

Looks like the appointee would have to be a Democrat.

Maybe Shamnesty Jeff Flake.

yes and so should Lieberman. What business does the Senator from CT have stumping in California during legislative session. Does CT get to pay his bill for the travel out there?
The time for term limits is now.
To: Rummyfan
I agree, it’s a moot question. McCain is neither going to win or resign.

I think all office holders (Senators, Congressmen, Governors) should have to resign their seats if they seek the presidency ... if they’re in the contest in the year of the presidential election, they should choose which path to chooes and not have it both ways. Another thing to admire Dole for doing.

He should have resigned the day his corrupt dealings with Charles Keating were exposed.

Yes! And again, Yes, yes yes! He should resign. That might be the only way we will ever get rid of the old, Democrat gasbag. He doesn’t have a chance at winning the White House, and then we could be rid of him. Come on John, it’s a Republican tradition.
