Well, since President Nixon won two terms with Agnes Moorehead as his runningmate, it doesn’t sound like such a bad strategy. : )
If Hillary is that worried about winning New Jersey and Eastern PA then she’s in worse shape than I thought.
Every single number across the board favors the Democrats. Every one. Even structurally the Republicans start out at a disadvantage. As the party holding the WH we are seen as the party in power.
McCain bring no strengths to counter any of those Democrat advantages and he does bring a huge host of draw backs. He is a career political with a long politically corrupt history who is broke and not trusted or liked by the vast bulk of the GOP base. He is going to get vastly out spent, he is not going to show well in the debates and he is not a great speaker and looks old and ill.
He polls well now. So did Rudy G 9 months ago. So you can string together a fantasy “what if” based on the most absurd wishful thinking if you want. Just don’t try to sell it here. We know better.
You must not be looking at the website I posted.
Rasmussen, whom is considered one of the better polls, has McCain leading Hillary by a fairly decent margin.
That poll is also 10 days old. Two weeks is an eternity in political campaigns.
Of course, national polls are fairly worthless, since it has to be viewed state by state...
Then how can you be holding up the Rasmussen national poll as proof that McCain will clean Clinton's clock?
Polling data is often a good indicator. But you are the one making wild-eyed prognostications for November when nothing is set in stone, yet. Fact is, after months on end of rodent candidates, one of whom reminds every man of their ex-wife or mother-in-law and the other whose name sounds like a terrorist, it might turn out far better for us, even with a jaw-droppingly flawed RINO like McCain as the nominee. Your failure to take into account possible 3rd party candidates (Bloomberg, especially) makes your conclusions highly dubious factually-speaking and more based on raw emotion and hatred of McCain.
BTW, why do you keep citing Rudy ? I never saw any credible polling data that indicated he would carry ANY rodent states or marginal ones (indeed, even Republican-leaning ones in the south) over Hillary.
You just need to step back and go chill out, dude.
NS, are you going loopy ? You had me look at it. I did. It confirmed what I said. McCain does the best of the 3 RINOs against Hillary or Obama.
"That poll is also 10 days old. Two weeks is an eternity in political campaigns."
It's 10 days, so what ? And last time I checked, 10 days is less than a week and a half. ;-)
"Then how can you be holding up the Rasmussen national poll as proof that McCain will clean Clinton's clock?"
I haven't. I've been looking at the state by state polls put up by FReeper Norman Bates.
I disagree....where would you rather have your greatest adversary...in your control as your VP or on the Senate floor taking daily pot shots at you and your administration
This is the 1st time in 14 years they will have a shot at controlling all 3 branches. They are like we were in 2000. They are ground glass Democrats. McCain inspires NO counter- valing enthusing on our side. Quite the opposite in fact.
I know this “brilliant” political strategy the Republican Establishment is pushing about “Winning the moderates” SOUNDS smart. In actuality it is stupid. You start with your base and move out. You do NOT start by alienated your base, as McCain has done, then sneeringly say “where you going to go”. So to a weak candidate, a structurally difficult election cycle you are NOW adding a completely erroneous political strategy.
I have never understood how people so normally smart can be so politically dumb once they start having polling data waved in their faces. All your assumption are based on an error. The error is the assumption your base will turn up for you no matter what. No they will not. You all tried this “moderate” strategy in 1992. It did not work then, it will not work now.
Corzine a real fiscal conservative. Let’s not look at how we can cut the budget, lets speand 800,000 to see where we can raise revenue. I got it, lets raise taxes and tolls on all of our roads to pay for this. A real man of New Jersey! Yeah I would like to see him in the Whitehouse! I would like to see him cleaning out the out house in the Whitehouse! Despicable leeches!
Corzine? Doubt it. She needs to balance out the ticket, which means she has to pick somebody who is actually likable.
Clark, Dodd, Kerry or Richardson...any of them are awful.

Because you are basing your analysis on emotion and not on facts. Whether you or I like it or not, the data states clearly that McCain is the GOP’s strongest candidate. Huckster and Romney had ZERO chance of changing that around. Romney couldn’t even win my state of TN, where he is rightfully viewed as a sleazy, flipflopping Massachusetts liberal.
And if your Obama, what's in it for you if you're Clinton's veep? And if your Clinton, what's in it for you being second banana to Obama?
Where?
There is not much of an upside for Obama in a VP slot...but Hillary get’s all the benefits....his appeal to voters which gets her into the WH and her control of him for 4 years.....sadly, there is no doubt that Hillary will screw up everything and poor Obama will have a hard time running for POTUS again after her failed administration.....another algore....
I can't argue with any of that. So why on earth would Obama agree to run with her?
Well...somehow she must convince him...I have no idea how she will do it..one possibility is with his inexperience, he may think he can benefit in the long run...and wait for his turn in 2012...their thinking may be they both need each other ...her experience and his appeal......but if you watched the debate in Ca when this option was brought up as the *Dream Ticket*....the crowd went wild....right there I knew it is going to happen......
I’ve been trying to ping him. Check his posts, he’s started numerous threads with the state-by-state data.
Sorry to disappoint, but it won't. Obama is not a stupid man. He wants to be president. He knows that being part of Clinton's ticket is not going to advance that.
Webb would never deliver Virginia in the general. Anyway he’s too quirky - a real liability. So, yes, Webb would be great for us!
Sanford has said he is not interested. He wants to settle down with his family after he’s done. He even passed up endorsing Mac in the primary.
