The lethal cocktail of drugs that killed actor Heath Ledger two weeks ago could be sitting in your medicine cabinet.
The medications identified Wednesday as oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, alprazolam, temazepam and doxylamine are the generic names for the painkillers OxyContin and Vicodin, the anti-anxiety drugs Valium and Xanax and the sleep aids Restoril and Unisom.
Ellen Borakove, a spokeswoman for the New York City medical examiner, who conducted the autopsy, said Wednesday that the cumulative effects of these combined prescription medications killed the 28-year-old Australian-born actor.
"The danger is that all these drugs have similar side effects and they tend to add up," said Dr. Manny Alvarez, managing editor of health for FOXNews.com.

My thoughts exactly. This is a useless article. There are a number of poisons in ones home but you don’t taste them and surely don’t OD on them.
OxyContin - Yep.
Vicodin - Yep.
Unisom - Yep.
However, I feel no need to grab a handful and take a dirt nap. *Rolleyes* I’m sorry this guy had to die, but this article is just fear-mongering.
How much trouble can you have getting to sleep? I just read a chapter or two.

I recommend anything your wife is reading. Sure cure for sleepless nights.
So could water if you drink enough.
That’s for sure. Heath ain’t the first guy to die like this. I doubt he was the first to think up anything.

Everybody knows that controlled substances are harmless.
They're just trying to scare us.
Who, me?
I am just trying to warn everyone about this serious menace to our health.

I guess I feel differently from those on this board. From what I understand, Ledger took the meds in the prescribed amounts. When your doctor prescribes a bunch of meds, a lot of people don’t necessarily know they aren’t to be taken together. They think, well the bottle says take one, and I only took one, so it’s got to be safe. But it isn’t.
I remember several years ago after my car accident my doctor prescribed soma and vicodin. He never said, don’t take them at the same time. I figure one is a muscle relaxant and one is a painkiller, they are two different things, I can take them together right?
I spent the next few hours lying on the sofa unable to move. It was frightening.
The CIA uses DHMO to torture prisoners!
The horror!
LMAO! That is just priceless.
The alcohol that Spencer Tracy drank himself to death with (and also destroyed Larry Hagman’s liver) is in my house too.
Oh yea, I just keep all those drugs around the house. Moron!
