The pathetic left is still saying that. Just yesterday, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, a liberal echo chamber if ever there was one, repeated that Condi Rice was warned about an al-Quaeda attack prior to 9/11, suggesting that she knew about 9/11 and did nothing about it

According to the 9/11 Commission, there were DOZENS of warnings about imminent attacks prior to 9/11, but most of these warnings pertained to possible overseas actions, and NONE provided any actionable intelligence regarding the 9/11 plot. So, once again, the P.I. is doing what it does best - lying.

I hate to say this, but I believe that it's the truth... As terrible as September 11, 2001 was, we got off easy. Had they crashed the plains into the towers a few hours later, and had the towers come right down, and had the "bathtub" holding the river out of the subway system broken (and it was close to being breached), the death toll would probably have exceeded 50,000 lives, maybe into the hundreds of thousands.

Most people are blissfully unaware of how close to this sort of massive loss of live we were.

There is a fair number of Australians and Western Europeans, typically they transit right here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia getting the cheap tickets on to Pakistan from a few travel agents over on Jalan Raja Laut.

One of my New Year’s predictions was for an attack sometime between November 4 and January 20 - primarily as a “good bye kiss” to Bush. They won’t attack before because they want a democrat to be elected. If it’s the Beast, then an attack is more likely. The optimal day for such an attack is January 20 because of the operational confusion and symbolic effect. If Obama is elected, I think they will first see how much they can extract from him before they do anything.

They would likely want to hit around the holidays at the end of the year. That way they get to hit Bush, but not give him enough time to formulate a good counter attack.

They can then do the middle east trick of offering to negotiate after a strike and before the counterstrike. A lot of Dems would say that they were just trying to hit back at the President who attacked them, and would oppose any serious response.

They would sell the new administration as a "new beginning" in diplomatic relations with the Islamic world through which we can resolve our differences and live together in peace.

The first World Trade Center attack (1993) was intended to topple one tower onto the other and result in 100,000 deaths. Due to a low explosive budjet and sturdy construction this did not happen. The principle planner, did however, escape, traveling with an Iraqi passport.
