A WRITE-IN Candidate for 2008?
Free Republic ^ | 02/06/2008 | Princess Leah

Everything I'm reading and the results of the Super Tuesday primary seem to indicate that the Republicans are hopeless. We see the difference in the enthusiasm, the lack of money being raised and the voter numbers between the democrats and the republicans. The writing is on the wall. Everybody is asking "What does a good conservative do now?"

Well, How about 2008 becoming a WRITE-IN year for a good solid conservative leader. Problem is, what is his name? Do we have anyone with the leadership skills, the money, the charisma, and the will to be a WRITE-IN candidate?

Can we come up with someone that Rush Limbauh, Sean Hannity, Anne Coulter Dr. James Dobson, Pat Robertson, etc. can agree on and throw their talk radio support behind?

Problem is this person would have to be someone willing to go long, real long on the odds that write-ins don't win! Money is another issue - we'd have to organize a special Write-in election fund and get his/her name on the ballot. Finally, name recognition is huge, like it or not.

So, who do I suggest? Michael Reagan! He hasn't been spoken to as of this writing, but to me he's got most, if not all of the above and would be a true Reaganite in every sense of the word. People have been searching for another Reagan, well, we've not been looking at the one who IS a Reagan.

Call this idea desperate, ill-advised, stupid, but maybe we should call it HOPE?

“we’d have to organize a special Write-in election fund and get his/her name on the ballot.”

Might be showing my country bumpkin roots, but I thought the purpose of a ‘writ-in’ was to write in someone’s name. If that’s true, why do we need to get their name on the ballot? Wouldn’t that take a lot of petitions and filings and such?

Mike Huckabe came in behind Ron Paul in 4 states last night.

Mike Huckabee received single digit support in about 6 states.

Mike Huckabee is not qualified nor intelligent enough to be POTUS.

The Dem candidate will get twice as many votes as Mike Huckabee in the general election.

But you go ahead and write him in.

Huck is a huckster and a spoiler. Everyone knows he can’t win, will not win and he knows he isn’t going to win. He’s just in there to keep a Mormon out of office. Sad because the huckster is going to give away the farm. If Romney doesn’t get the nomination, write him in during the election. This will insure Hillary gets elected. Then control Congress to the point that Hillary can’t take a piss without their permission. Lock her in the Oval office and don’t let her out.

Now that I think about it, Mike Huckabee would be a great President.

President of the Confederate States of America.

You might as well write in the name of the next president when you waste your vote in this manner. Remember, there are two L’s in HILLARY.

We need another Reagan. Why would you write in a socialist? Huckabee is the anti-Reagan.

Congratulations Republican Party! Good luck in 2012 (2016?). Perhaps by then you will have gained enough seats totake away the super majorities in congress and found an attractive enough candidate to defeat team Hillary/Obama. If not, then 2020 or 2024 may be hopeful.

God have mercy on this country.

You want to have the borders sealed, benefits to illegals cut off, the ACLU and CAIR put under the microscope of the justice department, English made the official national language, family values espoused, and all the “religion of peace” rhetoric done away with?

Then Michael Savage is the guy.

although I am likewise unhappy with McCain as our probable nominee, I remind myself that there are two things most important to me.

They are the war on terror and court appointments.

To me, the risk of allowing a dem POTUS and Congress for two years while we work to get congress back is far greater than losing the war on terror or supreme court appointments

I've pretty well resigned my self to holding my nose and voting McCain rather than gamble that we will get Congress back 2 years later.

If I write anyone in it will be Hunter. Its extremely unlikely that he would win but it does raise a question from me.

How would a vice president be chosen in the unlikely event that a write in candidate won the election?
