Well he won’t be president. Praise the Lord.

Looks like Huck will win Missouri as well. Good nite for Huck. So far, a bad night for Mitt.

Indeed. As some of us have been telling people--Romney is poison in the South!

Without the South, the GOP can't win.

Arizona chose both Clinton and McCain. Sheesh!

You know, the funny thing is: Huckabee loathes Mitt, McCain loathes humankind and Mitt, Mitt dislikes (okay, by now he should be loathing) McCain. Similarly, a large portion of conservatives despise McCain, and dislike both others somewhat less (judging from the polling numbers).

I know a lot of people won’t vote for McCain if he’s the nominee and I’ve heard a few others say the same about both other candidates.

But honestly, if the convention brokers & nominates Thompson (nearly happened for Reagan in ‘76, did happen for Harding & Garfield), what conservatives woul not vote for him? Even the most enthusiastic supporters of McCain haven’t badmouthed Thompson. Nor have I heard the same level of distaste from the enthusiastic supporters of the other candidates.

I just wonder - if we get Thompson, who wouldn’t support him?

I do believe I am in my right mind and I proudly pulled the lever for Huckabee today. I’ll take him any day over McCain or Romney.

Me too.

YEah, I’ve switched to CNN too. Those “panel all stars” on Fox are getting on my nerves with their McCain cheerleading. I’ve actually found CNN reporting much more objective.

We are basically screwed anyway. Huge swaths of conservatives will not lift a finger to help any of these rinos.

“Clinton won the presidency twice. Was that the hand of God?”

If so, God sure has a sadistic sense of humor.

Reminds me of the pastor’s eulogy in that South Park episide, Grey Dawn: “It is sometimes hard, in times like these, to understand God’s way. Why would he allow nine innocent people to be run down in the prime of their lives by a senior citizen who, perhaps, shouldn’t be driving? It is then that we must understand, God’s sense of humor is very different from our own. He does not laugh at the simple ‘man walks into a bar’ joke. No, God needs complex irony and subtle farcical twists that seem macabre to you and me. All that we can hope for is that God got his good laugh and a tragedy such as this will never happen again.”

From my post above:

One has to think that Thompson’s half-ass effort kept him from winning this thing. After watching tonight play out, he’s the candidate he could have pulled from both McCain and Huckabee voters. Instead, it’s looking like a shared ticket. The vacuum was there, but Fred just couldn’t fill it. It’s a shame. I’m glad that at least the Republicans are putting up their strongest general election candidate and not Mitt Romney. He would have been a disaster.

It appears that you are right. The Lord may be choosing McCain and a lot of us are going to be practicing our acceptance skills.

You thought he choose his positions just to PO his constituents, or that he doesn't know anything about them?

Geez, people, how much of your own koolaid have you been drinking?

I’d say the same thing about the “conservative” media. They disgraced themselves by supporting Romney. Almost 70% of primary voters have spoken. They prefer McCain or Huckabee. The support for Romney just isn’t there.

Yep. What does it tell you when $90 million and free air time from Rush Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, etc. can only net you <30% of the Republican vote?

It tells me your candidate stinks.

If Duncan Hunter had had that type of support, we may have actually had a conservative to vote for.

Depends on the running mate. McCain is probably a one-termer. His VP will probably be his second term should he win.

The Republican party has become a joke and these are sad times.

The Republican party became a joke when they ignored Duncan Hunter. They've lost me for this election. I hope McCain gets the nomination so he and the party hacks can be totally humiliated this Nov.

No, his ego won’t hold back. He’ll run for a 2nd term unless his health forbids it.

Arizona promoted McCain since 1982

We tried to recall McCain in 2001. But then 9/11 happened and we let it go..."for the good of the nation."

My God...were we ever wrong.
