Bob Dole the last person that Romney wants support from ?

Must be this new Conservatism where you are indignant to War Heroes...

where you stand for something one day see a poll and change your mind the next..

Where you listen to the talking heads and then adopt their same indignat rhetoric to icons of the Republican party...

Where you forget everything positive that Republicans have done in the Conservative movement and choose to harp on single divisive issues like Illegal Immigration and call anyone against your particular views a non-pureist

Show me exactly what Conservative Battle that Romney support, on piece of Legislation that he sponsored or one area that he was a strong Conservative on in his record...

Apparently Pandering is what our Conservative talking heads want... hmmm

thats no better than what you get with BILLARY>..

I have to admit that was pretty stupid of Romney.

>McCain immediately put out a statement condemning the comment, and told reporters on his campaign plane that Romney should apologize to Dole, a decorated World War II veteran, for the remark: “this is no way to end up this campaign, by attacking a genuine American war hero.”

What is this, playing the Vet card? Because you are a veteran you cannot be criticized for your political opinion?

Does McCain feel the same way about John Kerry?

Let see a guy who has been out of Congress for 12 years endorses you guy, while saying he totally disagrees with everything your guy did the last 10 years, and you McCainiacs are bragging about it?

Go actually read what Dole said! It the most tepid, weak, endorsement anyone has ever got!

Rush slapped McCain silly in the first hour over this private Dole letter leaked to the media. Called it a dirty trick, very Clinton Inc.

Rush Limbaugh just spent nearly an hour on just how utterly dishonest this criticism is and how “despicable” it is for Senator McCain to manipulate Senator Dole’s letter this way. The transcript to what Rush said will be posted later.

Romney can at least recognize the Dole letter for what it was.
Why would you want another 1996 or 1976 candidate like John McCain? He will not only lose the Presidency, he will lose a supermajority in the Senate and a supermajority in the House, plus lose the Supreme Court again. Go ahead, run McCain. See how many people stay away from him.

In 1996, it was Bob Dole’s turn, everybody stood aside, and we went down to defeat.

In 2008, it is supposed to be John McCain’s turn, we are all supposed to stand aside, and we will go down to defeat again.

Sorry. No sale. War heroes who are bad candidates and destined to lose are bad candidates who are destined to lose. You don’t give somebody the Republican nomination as a gesture of gratitude for their service in a war.

Frankly, I think that people should remember that Dole endorses McCain, and ask themselves if we want to lose to a Clinton again.

But you don’t understand, Mitt Romney is so perfect, so handsome, so wonderful that he would not make a mistake like this.

Must have been some staff person....

We are left with the "Three Ass Clowns of the Apocalypse", Huck, Yuck (McCain) and Suck (Romney)...

This is a fiasco looking to become a disaster when it grows up.

Unnecessary statement by Romney.

The idiocy of Dole’s letter was apparent on its face.

Dole ran the most incompetent campaign of any Republican in the last 50 years. Like we should take advice from “the tax collector for the welfare state”

In our country, being in combat is NOT a requirement to vote. If it was, our nation would be overwhelmingly Republican.

Being a war hero unfortunately does not win elections, not even when you run against a draft dodger. Dole is a nice guy, but him being out there might just remind people of 1996.
Frankly, if Rush wants to criticize mccain, he has every right to do so. McCain has brought it on himself, Mccain is the one who in the past few years has turned his back on republicans.

I’ve shot my mouth off about Dole, but its not something you should ever do in public.

And, in any case, McCain has Dole’s faults without any of his qualities. Dole would have made a fine president, but he was the wrong man to confront Clinton. McCain is the wrong man period. He’s the wrong man to confront anyone, and he will not make a president any of us would be proud of.

Actually, to give him his due, he might be able to beat Mrs. Clinton, because I don’t consider her to be a strong candidate. In a normal world my Uncle Harry ought to be able to beat her. But if McCain has to go up against Obama, I’m going to pop some popcorn and watch the show. It will be entertaining.

No, its just that Dole is a LOSER.

He knew he couldnt win in '96,had no reason to go after it but ego, but it was his turn, so he demanded it. And Republicans being loyal lemmings, gave it to him.

Thats what we have in McCain. A 72 yr old washed up sickly old disagreeable has-been. Pox on the both of them.

Bob Dole the last person that Romney wants support from ?

Since Dole ran one of the worst campaigns in recent memory, and many people are already making comparisons between the Dole campaign and McCain (old senator, moderate/liberal, getting the nomination because it's his "turn"), I can understand what Romeny was saying.

Must be this new Conservatism where you are indignant to War Heroes...

I see you are following the McCain talking points. Any time someone says anything negative, pull out the War Hero card. Well, Mitt is not my guy (I voted for Fred), but Mitt's comment cast no aspersions on Dole's military or public service.

I'm not thrilled with either of the choices left in the race, but come November, I might be persuaded to pull a lever for Romney. If it is McCain, I will not cast a vote for president for only the 2nd time in my life. (Guess who was running the first time?) McCain gets too much joy from screwing over conservatives for me to ever trust him.

When Dole was running for president, he donated to the local party for the yearly fundraiser the paperweight/pen set that has the logo “Senate Majority Leader”. I bought it. Had he won, it would have been worth something but since he didn’t, it’s just a nice memento.
