Pushing Fred Thompson to Re-Enter the Race?
The Conservative Pulse ^ | 02/05/2008 | Austin Cassidy

Posted on 02/05/2008 7:53:49 AM PST by TheThirdRuffian

Apparently, a handful of former Fred Thompson supporters are keeping the faith. They’ve been trying to organize grassroots supporters to vote for Thompson anyway, despite the fact that he’s dropped out of the race…

There is a reason Fred Thompson hasn’t endorsed any other Republican candidate for President. If the FRED ARMY can come through on Super Tuesday and deliver a victory in Tennessee, he will re-enter the race and give us the conservative alternative we need!

Mitt Romney is a phony conservative. John McCain is an honorable servant, but he is not the right man to represent our party. Mike Huckabee is a liberal in conservative clothing.

Only Fred Thompson can save our party and our nation.

Fred may not be out on the campaign trail, but you can be. His name is still on the ballot and we can still get the word out. This election year is unlike any other. Fred Thompson was leading the polls before he got into the race, there’s no good reason why he can’t lead again.

Get out and vote for Fred! Wave signs for Fred! Call friends, call family members, open the phone book and call everyone! Make a YouTube video or share an eCard to remind people they can still vote for Fred.

Victory in Tennessee means victory for America!

We can and we must win!

Imagine the headlines: Thompson wins more delegates than Ron Paul or Mike Huckabee! Thompson beats Huckabee in California, Alabama, and New York! Thompson re-enters race as Romney and Huckabee drop out!

WE CAN DO IT! LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN!

FRED THOMPSON 2008 - FRED FOREVER!

The idea isn’t quite as crazy as it might sound. Back in 1992, Paul Tsongas suspended his campaign and then rejoined the race, thinking Clinton had been fatally wounded by a string of sex scandals. It didn’t quite work for Tsongas, but he did perform well in New York.

Yeah, pushing Fred to do somethng he did not want to do worked so well last time.

People should leave that poor man along and stop putting pressure on him.

Sorry, can’t vote for Myth.

Myth a bigger liberal than McCain, just a better liar.

The remaining declared candidates are all turds, and none of them is worthy of even a tactical vote.

“John McCain is an honorable servant,”

No he is not.

He may have been at one time but no longer.

We have no way of knowing how he ran his campaign once he got in. We have no access to the raw schedule; all we have is press reports of it. I won’t vote for him today because Romney is the only vote to allow a brokered convention, but consider; Fred had committed to help Paul Harvey, who was ill, and had appeared in all those first-run L&O episodes which could not run if he declared.
I personally think the campaign is obscenely long and would rather see it compressed back to the year before election day.

I really wanted Fred for President. Donated to his campaign and all.

The problem is, Fred didn't act like he wanted to be President. As the popular saying went, there was no "fire in the belly." And in the end, Fred's was the most lackluster campaign since John Anderson ran against Carter and Reagan in 1980.

Sorry...I wanted Fred, but it didn't seem that Fred wanted Fred.

GA has made it easy for you, Politicalmom - Fred's on the ballot.

...and yes, I voted for him this morning.

Where did I say I was for McCain? I said I was voting for Romney today. If McCain wins the nomination I will then write-in (Fred) or stay home. But I will NOT vote for McCain, Huckabee or Paul. Period.

As for Fred possibly coming back into the race, yeah, right. When was the last time you heard of that happening? And if it did, when did that reentry get the candidate anywhere? I'm just not buying it. Why? Because I think Fred's smart enough to know the odds.

But if it happens, he'd better wage a far better campaign than he did the first time. That's my point.

I wouldn’t want to see a good man do a Perot, where he’s in, then he’s out, then he’s in again.

Everyone won’t. I think the last figure I saw was 60%+ for McCain. My left-leaning paper actually endorsed Romney.

Fred was once in the race? Now he's out? It's kind of hard to tell with the type of campaign he ran.

And if his campaign was any indication of how he'd run the country, count me out.

Yes...'cause that makes soooo much sense. Fred's not/wasn't interested in 'running', he was interested if the nomination were handed to him, it wasn't, so he's out.

Voting for Fred today maybe gives you a 'feel good' moment, if that's what you going after, fine. If you looking for other results, it is a waste. IMO.

Fred only wanted the job because he is a public servant, but already had a job.

Only career politicians NEED a job. Thats why they spend millions of dollars (our money) to convince us how great they will be.
I too donated to Fred.

You know what, I just can't care about Fred, anymore. What's he going to do? Run on a Thompson-McCain ticket?

Don't misunderstand me, I'm sincerely sorry about his mother's poor health. (Ostensibly the reason for his withdrawl BEFORE this Super-Duper Tuesday.) Why would you start late and then quit before the big enchilada?(a little Spanish lingo)

However, I'm having a flashback to the Perot days in '92. (I'm in, I'm out--reminds me of someone I dated before Mr. MaggieCarta--but I digress)

As I've said somewhere else before, how "conservative" can he be, really--he was in McAmenesty's corner in 2000. But, of course, he's a different man, now.

Yeah, right.
