Editor - I have attempted throughout my life to give a voice to the voiceless, hope to the hopeless, encouragement to the discouraged, and options to the cynical and complacent. From Northern Ireland to Sarajevo to Latin America, I have sung and marched, engaged in civil disobedience, visited war zones, and broken bread with those who had little bread to break.

Joan BI-lez hasn’t been the same since she thought she dumped Dylan, but he came back to write “Positively 4th Street” about her, the best F-— Off song to an ex-girlfriend ever written.

I love how she's got that old JFK cadence going with the parallel contructions:

give a voice to the voiceless,
hope to the hopeless,
encouragement to the discouraged,
and options to those folks who don't really care any more and would rather watch American Idol.

But I think she lost the rhythm there at the end.

Yes, liberal politics had nothing to do with this great divide, Baez. All it’s in-your-face, more more more, mindset certainly contributes to the unity you and your ilk so claim to seek.

You can’t arrive in hell fast enough.

She needs to remember some of her own lyrics,

Now you're telling me
You're not nostalgic
Then give me another word for it
You who are so good with words
And at keeping things vague
Because I need some of that vagueness now
It's all come back too clearly
Yes I loved you dearly
And if you're offering me diamonds and rust
I've already paid

Diamonds and Rust, Joan Baez 1975

Well, good. I was waiting for Joan Baez’s opinion before making my Super-Tuesday decision. Actually, the Republican primary is closed to Democrats and in fact anybody who is not a Republican already, and Obama wouldn’t be on the ticket. But, thanks, Joan, for pointing out that the future begins today.
