Howie Kurtz wonders if we are just mad at McCain because he doesn’t always “toe the party line.” They just do not understand that conservatives actually believe in the Consitution and silly nuisances like that.

They don’t understand Rush either. They think he should want the Republican to win no matter who it might be.

The dem blogger on Reliable Sources talks about how likable McCain is and how relaxed he seems on the late night talk shows. I guess she hasn’t seen some of his other performances.

Well, traditionally, that’s how Rush has worked. Prior to a few weeks ago he spent 90% of his time trashing Democrats and liberal policy. It was only when Huckabee started talking trash about Limbaugh that he started talking about the actual race.

Heh.

Just last week the fine, even-tempered McCain made a spectacular gaffe although, for the time being, it went under the radar.

but McCain referred to a bunch of journalists, with his patented death-grin smirk, as a "bunch of jerks". He then let out a death-rattle laugh and many of the pundits were left speechless.

Do any of you know someone like this? someone who makes some kind of completely irreverent, totally humorless, joke as a vehicle to get across a feeling or personal sentiment that's perhaps small and childish but with a notion that if said as if a joke then it will be okay?

Okay, I'll give an example. I've got a brother-in-law, nastiest person on the planet next to John McCain. This man is so jealous of me and I'm not proud of this. He's only jealous of me because I've got a personality, a sense of humor, and most times folks generally like me. Which is not to say I can't grow old and at times with my passions, might suck the oxygen out of a room. I'm not tooting my own horn here; it is what it is and anyway this is about my fine, small and boring BIL.

So one day we're at a party and we're talking politics. All I can tell you is this guy NEVER reads anything so how much you gonna know if you don't read? Me and a bunch of folks are sitting around talking, all laffing, having a good time. I wasn't the only one talking is what I'm saying here but go with me, fine BIL had nothing to add to the conversation as this man knows nothing. Which is fine because there's lots of things I don't know about but most intelligent people keep their mouths shut and by the act of LISTENING, actually learn a thing or two.

So BIL grabs a piece of cake and comes over and SHOVES it into my mouth. then he laughs, a laugh much like the fine, even-tempered John McCain, like hey, it was only a joke, and everyone else in the surround, smiles, giggles, kind of awkwardly and with embarrassment, as you might imagine. Because what this fine man did was totally unacceptable and everyone knew it. His temper and jealousy got the best of him. But I, who have some class, laffed along but I had his number. Small, mean people tend to make life dreary. Once I got out of that house I NEVER put myself in his presence again and he knows it.

THAT's how John McCain does. He's got a temper and does not know how to behave. His calling a group of political pundits, those folks who keep him in the news, a "bunch of jerks" was McCain's loss of temper then his attempt to make it as if it was just a joke. I can't see this fellow sitting at tables and talking to foreign heads of government. He's liable to stuff their mouths with cake.
