Dear Mr. Huckabee,
For the sake of the Republican Party and your future political viability, please consider stepping down before this Super Tuesday.
I know this is asking a lot, but most conservatives despise John McCain as a politician. If you cause him to be selected in the primary, this will hang around your neck like an albatross. You will not be able to remove it. If you think you will have favoritism from McCain, first, you can't trust him and second, he will not be elected. The base, a good percentage of what would be your future voters, will not vote for him. He will loose to the Democrat candidate, and your political future will be over.
If you have people reading this forum (I strongly suspect you do), then please consider backing out of this race. If done correctly, you could elevate your political future and gain the appreciation from a very dedicated national base.
You do not want "moderate" or "independent" love, because they are so fickle. You do want our respect. Please step aside for now.
Thank you,
Free Atlanta
It will never happen. As Fred Barnes said on “The Beltway Boys” today and as I hvae been saying for quite a whiel now, Huckabee is staying in the race to split conservative votes and ensure a McCain victory in order to become Vice President.
I don’t know that they knew anything about McCain thinking homosexual behavior is not a sin. We did not go line by line on each candidate’s position. I was speaking about Hunter and they agreed Hunter’s positions matched theirs the best.
They did not trust Romney’s position on abortion nor his changed his position on embryonic stem cell research. They did not believe Mitt’s conversion was sincere. He tends to be a bit loose with the truth even when the truth would serve him better. They did not trust McCain because he had been anti Christian but Mitt being anti-RKBA, pro-choice, with a pro homosexual agenda while not being honest about it, was too much for them.
He understands that it is for self defense, not just hunting and sports.

and not just self defense from crooks but also self defense from the potential tyranny of our own government!!! Again, this is back to first principles of our founding fathers.
Huckabee is offering homemade root beer and some people are falling for Romney’s Diet Fanta.
Not everyone believes the Fox News bogus polls. FNC has apparently jumped the shark.

“abortion actually went down under Huckabee
http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/sfaa/arkansas.html
In 2005, 4,710 women obtained abortions in Arkansas, producing a rate of 8.3 abortions per 1,000 women of reproductive age. Some of these women were from other states, and some Arkansas residents had abortions in other states, so this rate may not reflect the abortion rate of state residents. The rate declined 15% since 2000, when it was 9.8 abortions per 1,000 women 15-44. Abortions in Arkansas represent 0.4 of all abortions in the United States.
In 2005, there were 3 abortion providers in Arkansas. This represents a 57% decrease from 2000, when there were 7 abortion providers.”
Thanks for the specifics - actual facts - details, not name-calling.
I thought that once upon a time, pro-life, pro-2nd amendment positions were considered conservative. I guess I’m confused this time around.
If someone who saved his own life by living a healthier lifestyle has the NERVE, THE UNMITIGATED GALL, to say that American’s might need to think about a healthier lifestyle as part of the approach to dealing with our national healthcare issues, then he can’t be conservative, right???
Pardon my accountant mentality, but I can’t help but think that prevention is a conservative approach.
I’d hope that Huckabee would still remember his federalist principles. Presidential candidates who were governors do like to think about new ideas and they have to catch themselves before trying to apply what worked in the state as governor to the entire nation.
What I am in favor of is a president who will use the bully pulpit and perhaps a national ad campaign to educate, not coerce, people towards a healthier lifestyle.
I should also point out that Romney also signed a public smoking ban.

I don’t think he would have won in MI without the RATS organizing a crossover for him like they did.
Out of 75 guys in my gun club that voted here in MI not a single one voted for him. Fred, Huck, Hunter, and a few for McCrazy. Not a one for the Mutt!
Mutt and Rooty are hated by gun voters.
Romney won in Michigan, where he was born, and his father was governor, and he was expected to win all along?
And you’re impressed by that?
A republican candidate needs the southern states to win - if Romney dropped out, Huck would kick *** in the southern states.
If Mitt is our nominee, I’d vote for him over Hillary or Obama.
When Obama was in the Illinois senate, there was a bill that said (essentially) “if a baby is born alive because the abortionist didn’t succeed in killing it before birth, the baby, once it’s born and separated from the mother, is a person and has a right to life.” It was our Illinois version of the infants born alive protection act, and Obama blocked and voted against it several times (he was on the committee in charge at the time).
That seems, to me, to be even a step beyond partial birth abortion.
If McCain is our nominee, I wouldn’t vote FOR him, but I’d mark the “R” to try to stop the evil I see on the “D” side,
most clearly abortion, but also the war on terrorism. Even McCain would be better than Hillary and Obama.
If DUNCAN HUNTER believes Huckabee can be trusted on border/immigration and WOT issues, I would trust Duncan Hunter’s informed, educated judgment after he spent a year getting to know the candidates, more than I would trust the opinion of any of the haters on here.
Am I misunderstanding, or is Huckabee the one who is somewhat soft in real time practice on illegal immigration? That’s what I understood from the Wikipedia article about him. - Romney’s article indicated a decent man who had, over the course of 59 years, changed his mind about a very few things. People who NEVER change their minds are generally rigid and inflexible. At least Romney has invested his own money in himself; it would appear that McCain and Huckabee are using somebody else’s money.
If McCain is the Republican nominee, I will be sitting this one out.
Romney is spending his OWN money, and THAT’S the REAL indictment?! Huh?!
McCain and Huckabee are spending OTHER PEOPLE’S money for their votes, and that’s NOT the real indictment?!
A lot of politicians got a rude awakening when the American people protested amnesty.
If DUNCAN HUNTER believes Huckabee can be trusted on border/immigration and WOT issues, I would trust Duncan Hunter’s informed, educated judgment after he spent a year getting to know the candidates, more than I would trust the opinion of any of the haters on here.
And youre impressed by that?”
Huh? I wouldn’t vote for Romney if he was the only one running.
As for Michigan, Mutt’s dad was a liberal and elected by liberals. Conservatives didn’t like him and don’t like his son.
Romney got a whole bunch of RAT votes to win here. Check the election map. His support was centered around Detroit. That is far from a conservative area.
Guess you should have learned your lesson then.
I'm people and I do.
of course but the ‘new’ conservatives care more about the fact that romney is a businessman than whether he will really protect the unborn or the constitution.
it’s ok to spend a lot of money trying to market a real product.
The problem is, Romney is spending a lot of money trying to market a box full of air. That’s not fair.
actually, he has already served his purpose. His mission was to either win, or make sure Fred Thompson or Duncan Hunter didn't.
he changed his mind about a lot of things! for example, he claims to be against mccain feingold? but he used to call for abolishing all PAC’s. Here’s the real troubling problem. When he was for campaign restrictions he uses the same passion and style as he uses now when he is against it

well I’m not surprised steve forbes didn’t endorse romney
