This is just presidential preference though right? Non-binding votes? no delegates?

They are trying to do the same thing to Mitt Romney what they tried to do to Ronald Reagan.

Mitt wasn’t my first choice, but I will say I can see this as clear as day. And somewhere in the dark reaches of my dull brain I can hear Ronald Reagan’s distinct voice saying “Mitt Romney.”

The delegates are non-binding, but if Romney wins the delegates will be mainly Romney supporters.

You are correct! Good article below.

Romney’s son visits Maine as caucuses begin

The GOP caucuses are essentially a nonbinding preference poll and the first stage in a longer process in which delegate support is allocated. Delegates to the state convention are elected at the caucuses. The state convention in turn elects delegates to the national convention.

This year’s caucuses will include a first in Maine: 17-year-olds will get a chance to take part in the presidential selection process.

If anyone doesn’t think the calling isn’t important between now and Tuesday, read this exchange:

To: Matchett-PI

I have been calling for Romney all day. It’s amazing that there are still so many that are undecided between Mitt and McCain. Most of my undecideds said they would look at Romney again. One person from Teller County Colorado was telling me that she had no idea as to where to go on Tuesday, and no one she knew did either. What is going on out there? She wants input into the upcoming election, but nothing was sent to the voters in her area. This is unreal.

To All:

We have three days to stop McCain and if you want to help us you don’t even have to leave your house.

The calls you make that connect you to voters could put Mitt over the top, they could mean the difference in determining our next president. Please join us during all or some of the times we have set aside by emailing “I want to win” to CallatHome@MittRomney.com.

Pass this info on to as many people as possible.

McCain must be stopped! bttt

Nonbinding votes. You left that part out.

The side that wins the caucuses will be the side that controls the convention that picks the delegates to the national convention. "Nonbinding" is only a disclaimer that keeps the party from penalizing the state for holding caucuses before February 5. Technically, the delegates could change their minds, but most people are not going to change after having gone through the caucus and convention process with their minds set on supporting one candidate.
