If you stand back and imagine a 4-year period...with McCain in charge...and toss in Iraq, global warming, the economy, and the budget...its a pretty dismal period to look forward to. I doubt if any Republican would be happy...and we’d all sit out the 2nd election and allow some democrat to easily beat McCain. This is the scenario which leads me to think that a third party guy now...would work. Neither Hillary or McCain really attracts more than 50 percent of the voting public.

The problem is you’ve got to start by March 5th to get on the ballot in Texas. And a third party candidate would have to be self-financing; the one who’s currently serious about it is a liberal (Bloomberg). Is there a conservative billionaire who’s willing to run as an independent right now? I don’t know of one.
