Posted: 8:31 PM- The funeral for LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. in Salt Lake City's LDS Conference Center. While funerals for every president from Brigham Young on have taken place in the LDS Tabernacle, Hinckley's will be in the center to accommodate the expected crowds.
The 97-year-old leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints died at his Salt Lake City home on Sunday at 7 p.m., surrounded by his children and other members of the governing First Presidency.
Though many saw signs of decline in recent weeks, Hinckley continued to work until Wednesday. On Thursday, he simply couldn't get out of bed, family sources said, and by Saturday, loved ones had gathered to say goodbye.
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has confirmed he will attend the funeral, as have Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Utah Sens. Bob Bennett and Orrin Hatch. Other expected dignitaries, and the schedule of speakers, has yet to be determined, said Scott Trotter, LDS Church spokesman.
People attending the funeral must be seated no later than 10:30 a.m., and seating will be restricted to 21,000 individuals. Overflow seating, with large screen viewing of the proceedings available, will be in the LDS Tabernacle, Assembly Hall and Conference Center Theater.
KUTV will broadcast
Due to Hinckley's death, church officials announced that the dedication of the Rexburg Temple in Idaho, which had been scheduled for Sunday, will now take place on Feb. 10.

I will never understand why people like you have some infantile obsession with other people’s undergarments.
A venerable, well-respected man is being laid to rest and all you can think of is to spout off some piffle about his skivvies.
I humbly submit to you that you need to get a life.
Good grief. You guys really have no class whatsoever, do you?
What’s “pulling an APACHE?”
“You guys?”
Who you talking to?
Just me by myself regards,
Quite obviously, as you are showing on this thread about a man’s funeral, you have no life and you have no class.
There’s a time and a place for everything and this isn’t—
Ah, forget it. You could never understand.
Having said that, Mormons are some of the best people there are and I never gave a rat's behind about their underwear.
Mormons are AWESOME! I have deep personal appreciation for them and their values. EVERYTHING about their values is awesome. Everything.
But not their religion.
I know. I used to follow Joseph Smith too.
That was a short week.
By the way, my grandpa WAS buried wearing his holy Mormon underwear.
He was also a 32nd Degree Mason, so there was even more.
Yeah, I bet he’s PROUD of you.
Masons are mannerly as far as I have seen.
I know. I used to follow Joseph Smith too.
+++++++++++=
That might have been your mistake.
I follow Jesus, so did Brother Joseph.
“I used to follow Joseph Smith Too”
Maybe that would be the problem. Follow your heart by reading the scriptures. Joseph Smith was a prophet who taught members of the church many things. First was to read, study ponder and pray about the scriptures.
G. B. Hinkley had more influence on American life and morals than most people realize.
Harry Reid is probably there to make sure he is dead.
***Follow your heart by reading the scriptures.***
You sure?
Jer 17:9 The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it?
