Good way to keep Michael Moore out of your state.
“Is this a tongue-in-cheek bill, meant to point out how absurd the war on obesity has become? Or do lawmakers actually believe the myths that gluttony is the cause for obesity and that it is the governments role to force people to eat and live how it deems best?
I called lead author, Rep. Mayhall, and asked if this was serious legislation or tongue-in-cheek to make a point. He kindly took a moment to answer my question while the legislature was in session. He said that while, regrettably, he doesnt believe his bill will pass, this is serious. He wrote it, he said, because of the urgency of the obesity crisis and need for government action. He hopes it will call attention to the serious problem of obesity and what it is costing the Medicare system.
So, yes, this is for real and these elected officials actually believe this stuff.”

There would be only 7 people left in Mississippi who can eat at a restaurant. Should be able to get good seating.
BTW, TSG says it it likely DOA and I do believe the Pubs control the Miss. legislature.
How long before somebody gets tazed for eating out at a buffet?
“Sir, put down the chicken leg and step away from it. Sir...Sir.....” ZAP!!!!!!
Hey, I’m all over this bill!! I’m skinny and with no fat people in line, I’ll get served faster!
I also want no vehicles larger than mine to get gasoline. Woo Hoo! End of traffic congestion for me.
Boy howdy. What a hoot this is.
If people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny. Thomas Jefferson (1743 - 1826)
This is beyond ABSURD!!!!
If they will not serve me, I will just drop by McDs and get my 16 Big Macs to go. ;-)
Will they have scales at the door? Who will say what Obese is?
Nanny state at its worst.
Next they will pass a law to prevent smokers from bars!! Oh, wait thats been done.
THis is silly and a bit excessive.
If I was a nanny stater, I would argue that they should start out by making it illegal for fat people to order desert. THen gradually progress from there...make the fat people sit in the “fat” section and order from “fat” menues.
But I’m not a nanny stater so I would never say that. I think it should be up to the individual restaurants to make up their own “fat” rules...hehe.
If they are using the CDC standards for obesity, there won’t be anyone left to serve. The Ole Miss football team will have to drive to Alabama in order to eat.
So, they wanna legislate discrimination?
As stupid as it is, I don’t see any reason the state of Mississippi can’t do this if they want to. But we’d better get over the idea that anything a state goverment can do to it’s citizens, the US Congress can do to all of us by claiming they’re “regulating commerce”.
In case you missed it...Nanny State Ping.
Smoke Gnatzies...they can’t ALL be skinny, can they? The chickens are coming home to roost! ;)
Old Country Buffet will go bankrupt.
