Wajda’s Katyn nominated for Oscar

I am about 2/3 of the way thrrough a book called "Stalin and His Hangmen". It not only is a book on Stalin, but pays much attention ot the killers who helped him in his dirty work. By a coincidence, I am on a chapter titled "The Katyn Massacres".

What a sickening lot the Bolshies were. The best way to imagine Stalin and his cronies: picture a government in which notorious murderers are cabinet ministers, police chiefs, etc. Imagine Ted Bundy patrolling the streets as head of a security organization, or Richard Speck in charge of interrogating prisoners or Al Capone as Attorney General. The Soviet Union was one of the worst slime pits in history.

I am interested in seeing this new movie.

Epic win for Anne Applebaum’s review - bestest evar! And many thx to lizol for posting this. I have been waiting for this movie to come out ever since I got wind of it last September. I have been biding my time reading extraordinary books on the Polish Holocaust.
