WASHINGTON, (AP) -- A national Latino group said Thursday it is fighting back against what it considers to be "hate speech" that has emerged from the debate over immigration.
National Council of La Raza President Janet Murguia announced plans to pressure television network executives and candidates seeking their parties' presidential nominations to clamp down on such remarks.
The group launched a Web site to counter the speech, www.wecanstopthehate.org, with clips of what it considers offensive comments on television as well as a tracking of hate crimes.
"Hate groups and extremists have taken over the immigration debate in an unprecedented wave of hate," Murguia said. Although some comments could be considered free speech, "there is a line that sometimes can be crossed when it comes to free speech," she said.

But after they get their shills nominated by both parties. Piper will have to be paid before long.
Hey, can I have one of those?
Bunch of wusses. They are anti-American...they want to take away part of our soveriegn country...they have no allegiance to our nation or the principles upon which it rests. They are trying to use these liberal, useful-idiot, PC laws to get their way when what La Raza should get is the boot.
Feel free to copy it
The only hate speech comes from the left.
If we are such bad, hateful persons, why do these foreigners want to come here so badly?
LA RAZA - the name itself is hate speech.
I was about to post the same thing!
I work in Human Resources, and I see the First Amendment discarded in favor of political correctness ALL THE TIME. I get so angry I’ve become physically ill. Finally gave my retirement notice early this month ‘cause I can’t take it any more.
Hey, what a coincidence! C.A.I.R. is doing the same thing. They both must be represented by the same speech police at the ACLU.
Go, Constitution, Go!!!!!!!!
My fear is what will happen when the average Legal American Citizen stops talking and starts acting.
That’s awesome
They stand a much better chance of Their South “rising” again and fighting the battles of old than the so called Southern Pride “racists”.
“The Race”, indeed.
Apparently, they don’t like us criticizing Juan McCain.
These types of comments would be suppressed as "hate speech?"
20+ million foreign nationals physically entering our country against our laws is not an invasion?
The illegals do not have higher crime rates?
There is no concern about people with TB and other diseases who sneak into the country bypassing normal checkpoints?
There is no "reconquista" sentiment among any of these foreign nationals?
And these are not even legitimate matters for debate and discussion?
I hate La Raza! I hate illegals!
Am I in trouble now?
