Oh, well. Another missed opportunity.
And the other problem is that out of those 4, only two are conservatives.
He does have a good point - places such as Florida, where I live, are stuffed with liberal ex-New Yorkers and others (most of whom probalby still vote in both places). There’s also the geezer vote to deal with.
Geezers tend to love big government, are social liberals and are also somewhat nasty and crabby and have no interest in the future. They’re just voting for themselves when they vote for McCain.
Take back our party. Yeah, okay.
How?
The Republicans are doing what they always do. They decide whose next in line based on seniority and service. That’s how Dole got the nomination, and why we always run some old fart.
“Folks, we have let the liberals and RINOS set the agenda. Open Borders, Higher Taxes, and surrender to Kyoto-worshipping technocrats”
Amen!!
The “Buzzword” is get McCain out of there or we are stuck with all these illegals.
This is our party, not John McCains or Mel Martinez’s, or Lindsay Grahams.
Don’t RINOZ me bro!
Go back to the Ford - Reagan primary. Ford wins, Reagan is the nominee next time. Reagan runs against Bush in that primary. Reagan wins, Bush is the nominee next time. Bush runs against Dole in that primary. Bush wins, Dole is the nominee in the next primary. GW Bush runs against McCain in the primary. Bush wins... and McCain is the nominee in the next primary? I sure see a pattern. If the pattern holds Romney will be the nominee in the NEXT primary.
The conservative message of independence and self-reliance isn't selling to this crowd - which is why Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter were the only ones trying to sell it this year. Ending up with a cast of apparent RINOs was the only logical outcome - unfortunately, the one with the most famous name is beating out the one who would make the most capable administrator.
McLame wants to 'change Washington', but he has been part of that cabal for years.
McLame thinks running an air squadron is equal to being CinC, but it really means he was an instrument of someone else and only held rank.
Oh, on another thread I said RP and Huckster would be garnish and irrelevant in the debate. Notice how Huck and RP kept getting pushed out of the 'debate'?
Tuesday may be a surprise for JohnnyMac. It's possible none of them will have enough delgates to win th nomination.
Then anything can happen at a brokered convention.
I would like to think they will get the point when they can no longer count on the base for contributions. However, I am not sure even that will have any effect. I know that I have not sent anything their way since 2004. I believe that most conservatives closed their wallets to the RNC long before that.
“I dont think the primaries were hijacked. Instead the party was so splintered that the largest small group set the pace.”
The RNC wants a liberal nominee, why do you think they have the earliest primaries in the states with either open primaries or the liberal Rockefeller type repubs? Why don’t we have the first primaries in Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and other conservative states? Because the GOP dosen’t want a conservative to get early traction.

Yes, the conservative base is fractured...and not too savvy. A vote for Huck is a vote for Juan.
The base should be behind Mitt.
I agree.
Nothing will get better until we have excellent conservative candidates. Once George Allen was sidelined it was obvious that we didn’t have a single conservative with stature and name recognition who was not carrying heavy baggage. In Duncan Hunter’s case it was simply the fact that he was a congressman. The Republican Party is doing a lousy job of promoting its best conservatives for higher office.
Nobody for border control except Romney who doesn't really mean it anyway.
Prediction:
McCain will win.
Hillary is toast. Romney's best line: "The people can't stand the idea of Bill in the white House again with NOTHING to do!"
We won't elect a Black man if people listen to his nutso pastor and also really look at the racist black "do nothing" administrations everywhere in government and school systems designed to further black interests rather than be inclusive.
Folks will see that Romney is a "slickie" who says what folks want to hear.
That leaves McCain as a winner and his stance on imigration is scary and oil prices will continue to climb, ruining what's left of the economy.
Not a pretty outlook!

The RNC is happy, but I’m not. IMO, Huckabee is just in as a spoiler now.
