McCain is going to be blown out of the water.

Wrong. McCain beats Hillary and Obama in all national polls. The only Republican candidate to do so. I was backing Fred, but McCain will beat Hillary.

"We need a revitalized, fifty state Republican party, that can cut through the red-state, blue-state divide...."

More asinine stupidity from the ex duce of New York City. We don't need a Repub;lican Party to attract leftists. We need a prty that stands for principles NOT a party that tries to pander to everyone. These people are out to destroy and marginalize conservatives and they are getting away with it. We have to get back to basics, Conservatism is a movement NOT a party and that movement has just lost control of the GOP just as they lsot control of the Democratic party. Conservatives as of now have no Home to call their own unless they build a new one.

No self-respecting Conservative could ever vote for McCain, period. The whole field (Paul excepted) has been working against Romney from the get go. I wonder why that is?

Personally, I believe the reason that the other Republican candidates (Paul and the unknowns excepted) hate Romney is that every single one of them has failed their family repeatedly and utterly throughout their lives. Dysfunctional is too mild a word for describing these other candidates families. They see Romney come along with his Leave It To Beaver family and all his NEW money, and it just makes them seethe with jealousy and anger.

I mean, how dare this man stay married to his first wife for 40 years.

How dare this man NOT have mistresses on the side.

How dare this man EARN his money in private industry rather than having made it by marrying a wealthy woman or gain it through government lobbying and contracts.

How dare this man pretend he cares about America.

How dare this outsider come in and try to take the presidency that is owed to me.

How dare this man be prettier than I. (Oh wait, I was divining Edwards there for a moment)

How dare this man look and act presidential.

Some nerve this Mormon has got.

Now I know how Ronald Reagan must have felt in 1962 when he left the Democrat party. Only I have nowhere to go.

I just hope the next "Reagan", whoever he or she may be, is out there watching this and making plans for the future. We really could have used a person of his caliber this year...but I fear it's just too late for this election.

that’s the problem. you said it. Romney pretends to be anything you want him to be.

Good riddance. I have at least a small sense of vindication here.

Thanks to all of you here on FreeRepublic -- including plenty of folks whose names I've overlooked -- who have gone to such lengths over the last year or so to expose this unapologetic leftist for the fraud that he is.

Remember — Rudy Giuliani was the guy who was so proud of the fact that the NY Times didn’t endorse him. So now he’s supporting the guy who WAS endorsed by the Times? LOL.

“I think a deal was made. Should McCain win the nomination Rudy will be his running mate.”

I bet McCain promised the VP slot to Huckabee too. And both promises McCain will not keep because McCain is a real back stabber and hates even moderate conservatives becasue he is a LIBERAL!

"...but McCain will beat Hillary..."

On what basis? Their stands on the issues are identical. Why would a majority of voters choose McCain over Hillary? Particularly when the MSM is done chewing him up. Keating 5, old age, cancer, anger management...he's already toast.

Ahh, how big of you question Romney’s sincerity.

If Romney cares about America half as strongly as he loves his family, then he is 20 times the man any of the other Republican candidates. So while I may not agree with all his positions, and I certainly don’t, I have confidence that he’ll do what is right, what is just and what is moral when he makes presidential decision. Given McCain's past behavior, I have zero confidence that McCain will make decisions in the best interest of America as president. On the contrary, I’m confident he’ll do what’s best for him when he gets that power.

Now please convince me McCain is an honorable man, a trustworthy man, a decent man. What a joke, and you know it.

Exactly! The MSM has been helping him along during this phase knowing how easy he will be to crush in the next.

Well, dropping out would be a purely defensive move for me, strictly for medicinal purposes. I’m simply not up to another 9 or 10 months like the last few months.

Nope. McCain will have a VP that is an economic person. He has to. And it won’t be Romney. It will be a lib.

McCain is only winning those polls because the liberal media hasn't turned its baleful eye toward him yet. Right now they're cheering McCain as a "maverick," but once he gets the nomination, expect the media to demonize and vilify him the same as they do every Republican while they give Obama/Hillary nothing but puff pieces and softballs.

Couple that with McCain's anti-Second Amendment, pro-illegal, and pro-abortion stance and you've got a candidate that Republicans can't stand and Democrats won't vote for (since they've already got their own anti-Second Amendment, pro-abortion, pro-illegal stooge running).

"That’s not what any of the polls say, but I’m sure you know better."

Don't you realize that the polls are always wrong? We here at FR have a better record of predicting the outcome of political races than the polls. Remember 2006? (Do I really need a sarcasm tag?)
