WASHINGTON — Ralph Nader is seeking the presidency — again.

The consumer activist and political gadfly kicked off an exploratory presidential campaign Wednesday with the launch of a new Web site that promises he’ll fight “corporate greed, corporate power, corporate control” and asks people to donate $300 each.

My first instinct is that this might actually help the Dem candidate, as it could make the race appear to be a left (Nader) - Center (Hillary) - Right (McCain) race instead of a left (Hillary) - Center (McCain) race. Of course, the latter is more accurate, but appearances are important!

I still wish Fred would have stayed in. To me, you could win the nomination by have a well planned TV campaign. He should have focused his funds on that instead of going from state to state.

Very few lefties will vote Nader in 2008. Lefties are motivated to unify, especialy if Obama is the candidate. Nader will be a non-factor in that regard, even less than in 2004, IMO.

Conservatives need to help Ralph. With the libs, moderates and indys effing-up the Republican nomination, we need to have Ralph available to siphon off the dufus dem vote to weaken their candidate.

With three or four Liberals on the ballot this November, are we perhaps allowed a single conservative?

Ralph Nader can shave 2 to 3 points off the Democrats. In a close race that can make a difference.

Between this and the Sheehan Candidacy, they might just shave enough points away from Hitlery to make this interesting!

I’m betting that there will be a Rush-backed conservative running as an independent. I don’t think its a good idea, but it seems to be where Rush is heading.

I think it will be:

McCain/Huckabee (R)
Clinton/Clinton (D)
Bloomberg/Paul (I)
Nader/Kucinich (I)
McKinney/? (Green)

Who is the choice? Will Hillary/Bill hate be stronger than McCain/Huckabee hate enough to get conservatives to the polls? I think the Clinton/Clinton campaign will do something stupid to make people vote for McCain/Huckabee. Of course, some here would argue that a Clinton/Clinton ticket would be better for the country than McCain/Huck. I doubt anything could be worse than Clinton/Clinton though.

What we need is a decent moonbat 3rd party challenge that will take 10-20 percent from Hillary. That would leave an opening for a 4th party from the right of the RINOcrat party. With 4 parties in the race, a conservative challenge might succeed if it can get 30 percent. The question is, who would do it? DeMint is awesome, but I don’t think he’d challenge the GOP candidate.

Things could get nasty over on the dark side. Cynthia McKinney is running for the Green Party nomination.
