Assuming there is no shocking revelation or health issue, the GOP nomination is over. Conservatives need to start practicing the phrase "Nominee presumptive John McCa....."
Sorry, I can't say it. Not yet.
But it's true. When the campaign comes here to Massachusetts on February 5th, I'll proudly cast my vote for any option on the GOP ballot other than You-Know-Who. But it will be a futile gesture. Mr. "1/3rd Of The GOP Primary Vote" is going to be the nominee.
He's going to win the big, left-leaning states on Tuesday. Huckabee will stay in and deny Romney a one-on-one contest for GOP voters that Captain Amnesty would almost certainly lose. The result: More wins for He Who Must Not Be Named, and fewer wins for Romneyregardless of delegate count. Florida has launched the one ship that Romney's money and Rush Limbaugh cannot stop: The U.S.S. Inevitable. It's gonna happen. Even if there were a realistic pathway to stop him, the media have seized control of the process now and are declaring him inevitable. He is, after all, the favorite son of the New York Times.
So it is over. Finished. In November, we'll be sending out our most liberal, least trustworthy candidate vs. to take on Hillary Clintonperhaps not more liberal than Barack Obama, but certainly far less trustworthy. And the worst part for the Right is that McCain will have won the nomination while ignoring, insulting and, as of this weekend, shamelessly lying about conservatives and conservatism.
You think he supported amnesty six months ago? You think he was squishy on tax cuts and judicial nominees before? Wait until he has the power to anger every conservative in America, and feel good about it.
Every day, he dreams of a world filled with happy Democrats and insulted Republicans.

LOL, well there is at least some question of that. We’ll see.
Thanks, I updated it a little on the end.
You take care.
What’s with the “instant defeatism” about Romney??
He’s in second place, has millions to spend, and only 10% of the delegates have been won.
This race ain’t over.
BUCK IT UP.
I’m not sure if you’ve seen this or not. Take a peek if you like.

I will not let the MSM dictate who I will vote for nor turn my faith asunder. If it so happens that McCain is the Republican nominee, I will not vote come the general election and place my money and support toward real conservative fights and causes going forward. No money for the GOP directly but directly to candidates that are true conservatives and also any cause or otherwise that is truly conservative will get my time, money, energy, and support, but no McCain! and no GOP directly until they get they can not walk all over the conservative base and get away with it.
They say I should support McCain and I said, "NO. NO. NO." (Sing this last line to the tune of Amy Winehouse's song Rehab :-). It should be our new conservative mantra!!!
Now is the time for people who have always wanted to support "anyone but McCain" to come together around the one candidate who can beat McCain. Rudy Giuliani may endorse John McCain, but many of his supporters are people who liked him because he isn't John McCain. Mike Huckabee will keep the Christian identity voters who are willing to drink poisoned Kool-Aid for him, but others will realize that the Huckabee campaign will not end in a nomination.
Mitt Romney is a good candidate. I don't like everything he's said or done, but I believe that he'll do a good job for this country. If more people would look at his qualifications, they would see the same. We simply have to show more people that Mitt Romney is the better candidate.
Bill
Let the Repubs starve for cash...
Obamma does not have a chance of winning. The support and recent endorsements were done to seal the deal with the black vote for the foreseeable future. Some of them were beginning to gravitate to the GOP, or at least threaten to do so. This move by Kennedy will stop that progress that we were making, and shove us all the way to the back of the bus. It will be three cycles before we can even think of regrouping, and this is how we started the last thirty year rule by the dems.
At some point, you will have to admit that McCain was nothing more than a media inspiration and creation. There never was any real support for him in the party and what happened in Florida will not be repeated in the general. In fact, even without delegates and no real reason to go to the polls, the Dems had a fantastic turnout.
You can't beat that with McCain. You might put up a fair fight with Romney, but I suspect we will lose regardless, by a large margin. A margin that will be so sobering, that it will silence the GOP for weeks.
I have seen this coming for more than three years, and I will not be celebrating the fact that I was right. I will be mourning the GOP. I will be looking for a offshoot party to take it's place, because you can't do much with rubble and a person as conservative as myself, will have a hard time joining with GOP moderates and if it is hard for me, Lord knows how hard it will be for those who inhabit this forum..
I say this as a life long Repub who voted for Nixon. I have never witnessed the destruction of a once viable political party, but I think that has now changed.
Vote for your McCain. I figured him out over twenty years ago and he's No Good. I will not vote for him if he is the nominee, and I will protest vote, or simply stay home, depending on what else is on the ballot. I have never done that before. But there is always a first time for everything. Unfortunately for the moderates in the party, there are hundreds of thousands just like me and I'm much more reasoned then most Conservatives. In fact, they often call me a RINO. Maybe I am. After this debacle.
what will romney win? ok mormon states like colorado and utah and also MA. He also has an ‘identity’ problem.
Huck will slice and dice the southern states...Romney needs major support and SOON!
This conservative is staying home or voting third party. I'd rather we suffer for four years under a Dem than concede the Republican party to left-wing, check-pants, RINO, Rockefeller Republicans. To hell with all of them.
Aside from those consumed with a “suspension of disbelief”, is there anyone who could not, would not, vote enthusiasticaly for General Petraeus?
I have observed the same thing. It started about four years ago. They use the title to stir us up like a stick in a any pile.
I am still singing it and spreading the word that the following should be the conservative's new chant: (to the tune of Amy Winehouse's song Rehab refrain)--They say I should vote for McCain, but I said, "NO. NO. NO!"
Moderate Republicans...you mean, closet DUmmies and wannabe Rats, right?
any=ant.....LOL
Can’t we just send Hillary there first?
I guess that my realist side talking.
I hate to say this but Rush will get better ratings with a dem in the white house than if I was in charge tearing all the programs in the Amazing Lesko’s book to shreds.
Conservatives need real leadership and it was split from the beginning with Fred, Romney and Huck...and even Rudy and Ron Paul (spit gag vomit....but he said things on domestic policy that actually made sense but nobody else had the guts to say)
