Actualy, Rush, like me is suggesting that the only thing that will bring Conservatives back together is for someone like Hillary to be in office for very long.

I’ve said it a couple of times, to unite Conservatives will take a Hillary (or even Obama) in office.

I say this because right now the media has pushed out the most Conservative of the candidates, by pushing polls down everyone’s throats, and what’s worse, people who are intelligent and KNOW BETTER have been getting in these very forums and whining about “the most electable” instead of actually standing up, supporting and HELPING people like Hunter and Thompson.

It’s too bad we’re going to see at least four years of a Democrat in office next... because of some of those whiny babies who tried to do the “pragmatic” rather than stand on principles.

I think that Rush may be the most afraid of the dilemma that will face him as host if McCain is elected. Will he continue to attack McCain and run the risk of having liberals side with him, or will he grudgingly accept McCain and essentially ignore him in his criticism of liberals. His show could suffer.

It took a Carter to bring us Reagan.

The problem is that conservatives will be more than ready to elect the first alledged conservative that comes along, when in fact he is barely less liberal than the opposing democrat on certain issues.

There is no way that Rush or anyone else can predict what will happen in 4-8 years. As voters, our obligation is to vote for the best candidate out of the options available to us. Hindsight is always 20/20, but foresight is never nearly as clear.

if they win, we can’t give them any help like Contract with America or Alan Greenspan. Clinton took all the credit for the economy

let’s see how the democrats try to stick keynesians in the Fed and deal with social security now that baby boomers are about to retire

I think we’re more or less back to 1992. GHWB had squandered the coalition and momentum built up during two Reagan terms. He squandered it so badly that we went from three consecutive landslide wins to a loss to an obscure governor from Arkansas.

W has managed to do as “well” as his dad (but did get a second term thanks to 9/11). W squandered what had been built up by Gingrich and conservatives who won both houses of Congress for the first time in forty years, and the presidency for “compassionate comservative” W, and now things look dim to many for 2008.

But in 1994, after two years of Slick and the threatened Hillarycare, conservatives made a huge comeback. I agree we’d be better off with a Dem. president in 2008 than McCain, who’d be far worse than W. A couple of years of Hillary or Obama, and conservatives and many independents would be ready for a repeat of 1994. But I also believe Romney would be a fine president, and that he’d govern as conservatively as Reagan, and much better than the two Bushes.

An interesting fact: both GHWB and W chose running mates who were highly unlikely to be strong presidential candidates after they’d served one or two terms as VP. Coincident? Neither did a thing to ensure a strong candidate after they left office.

Oh, THAT worked the last time we tried it (8 years of Bill Clinton). He left no lasting damage upon the country or our future. /s

But which one of the two is more likely to actually get their agenda through? That’s the scary part...

Obama, who claims he can unite Republicans and Democrats but with absolutely ZERO Republican senate endorsements saying how easy he is to work with.. Or Hillary, who Dems and Republicans alike despise?
