Primary day voting begins for South Florida

South Florida voters took to the polls in force Tuesday, setting the stage for what may be a record turnout for a primary election and deciding a make-or-break race for Republican presidential hopefuls.

Early reports showed few problems at polling precincts. All polls in Broward County opened on time but two, said Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes. One opened five minutes late, another 10 minutes late, she said. In Palm Beach County, officials reported smooth openings at most of the 780 voting precincts Tuesday morning.

On the ballot: Democratic and Republican candidates for president and a controversial property tax amendment to the state's Constitution that needs more than 60 percent of voters' approval to pass.

Palm Beach County has 800,000 registered voters. Anderson predicts an about 40-percent or higher turnout. He said the closely contested presidential race and the public attention being paid to the property tax measure on the ballot is likely to keep interest high in a primary election that, he said, would normally draw fewer than a third of the registered voters.

Why am I not surprised? Independents? Is that what liberals are calling themselves now?

I know! Why can’t Florida get their act together when it comes to this?! It’s amazing. Problems are always going to occur, that is acceptable; however, you’d think since the 2000 election fiasco, they would have fewer than most states.

You could see this coming from a thousand miles away. South Florida might as well be Chicago or Philadelphia.

‘’Let me tell you about Florida politicians. I make them. I make them out of whole cloth, just like a tailor makes a suit. I get their name in the newspaper. I get them some publicity and get them on the ballot. Then after the election, we count the votes. And if they don’t turn out right, we recount them. And recount them again. Until they do.’’

Here are the Senators who voted against the Cornyn amendment , which would have established a permanent bar for gang members, terrorists, and other criminals looking to snag a shamnesty visa. Republicans underlined:

Never forget McCain not only pushed the amnesty bill, he refused to allow exclusions for the worst of the lot. And he unloaded his infamous temper on his mild-mannered senate colleague for having the audacity to introduce this amendment.

Apologies to any who feel I am spamming this message on campaign threads, but it is an important message on a key vote which needs to get out.

Report this immediately to the Governor’s office. No wait! He probably told the poll workers to let them vote. McCain losing would be a terrible embarassment for him.

That is not the title of the article. Please don’t change it. This article has been posted several times already.

I’ve been wanting to ask you but you don’t post very often; is there a lot of lead around here to monitor or is that just your side job? :>)

1. Firstly the title (from Drudge) is vastly different from the Sun Sentinel source which reads: Primary day voting begins for South Florida

2. Secondly, if you read the story, in the very bottom graphs it states the case of one independent trying to vote in the primary (vice independentS...very misleading!

This post is Krap! You changed the title ... and there is nothing mentioning McCain in the article. One independent voter had a problem! I would never vote for or support McCain!
