The end of the Romney Campaign
World Net Daily ^ | January 29 | Janet Folger

Posted on 01/29/2008 6:40:55 AM PST by no dems

Finally, there is a conservative answer to MoveOn.org: RoeGone.org, as in Roe v. Wade – GONE. Nice, huh? What's even nicer is the ad they're launching to expose Mitt Romney's record. Be looking for secular conservative pundits and compromising pro-lifers to jump the Romney ship soon. No kidding. I predict this thing will signal the end of the Romney campaign.

Unlike the other ads that have been done on Romney that primarily focus on his flip-flops on abortion, marriage, gun control, immigration, taxes, pornography etc., RoeGone.org's ad clearly delineates Romney's record as governor – which is very appropriate since that's exactly what Gov. Romney said we should do. I was there at the debate last week when Romney responded to the flip-flop accusations with the words: "I can point to a very simple way to find out exactly where I stand, and that is look at my record as governor."

Let's do that, shall we?

As governor, Mitt Romney issued an executive order forcing justices of the peace to perform homosexual weddings, or resign. Then he ordered marriage licenses changed to read "party A" and "party B" – instead of "husband" and "wife."

As governor, Romney appointed a board member of the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association to the bench, and appointed more Democrat judges than Republicans.

As governor, Romney authored and signed a mandatory heath insurance plan backed by Ted Kennedy – including taxpayer-funded abortion on demand.

As governor, Romney overruled his own health department and forced Catholic hospitals to distribute the morning after abortion pill.

Homosexual marriage?

Tax-funded abortions?

Catholic hospital morning after pills?

Homosexual activist judges?

"Look at my record as governor."

I wanted Cheney but he didn’t run. Then thought Fred would make a great president but Iowa, NH and SC didn’t agree. Looked at the rest and feel Romney would be the best of the lot. I feel I can trust him to do what’s right. I’ve come to despise McCain over the years. Rudy’s ok but a little to liberal. Huckabee a little to much like a pastor than a president. *Sigh*

A New York block IS a mile, isn’t it?

Not even close, though this time of year, it could feel that way if you're walking.

Yep, Colonfornian is smarter than anyone else in the entire United States. He sees things that none of the rest of us sees. He kows all and is wiser than any of us. He knows the truth about Romney, because...because...well just because HE knows.

Gee, I wish I was as all-knowing as Colonfornian, but since I'm just a poor stupid country boy, I think I'll stick with Mitt.

Gee Mr. all-knowing, cam I have your autograph?

Nice way to take a statement out of context...you must be a McQueeg or Huckster supporter. Taking statements out of context is their forte.

RoeGone, huh? Where were they when Fred was in the race, since he was the one vowing to appoint Supremes who would overturn Roe?

If Mitt Romney, who unlawfully and unconstitutionally instituted gay marriage, signed a permanent “assault” weapons ban and still supports one nationally, completely homosexualized state government and the public schools, and pushed through socialized medicine complete with taxpayer-funded abortions, wins the Republican nomination, I will be working to start a new party, as well as working just as hard against the Evil Party Two as I always have against Evil Party One.

Tell me Jeff. Which is more dangerous to the sheep: A wolf in wolve’s clothing, or a wolf in sheep’s clothing?

Worldnet forgot to consider that Romney keeps his campaign promises, and on that note Romney has promised to appoint justices who believe in federalism, strict constructionism, and to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Oops.

This is shaping up to be Schwarzenegger redux. Although, I have to say, Arnie at least put the kibosh on the move to gay marriage.

My gut tells me that the population would be more outraged by a lurch to the left.

I don't trust my gut with regard to that any longer. I have seen too much.

"Come on people, you can be for Romney but don’t try to pass him off as a conservative."

He is a conservative compared to whoever else is still in the race.

* In 2002, before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court declared same-sex marriage protected by the Constitution, Romney denounced as “too extreme” the effort by pro-family groups to enact a preemptive state Marriage Protection Amendment prohibiting homosexual marriage, civil unions and same-sex public employee benefits.
- Boston Phoenix, May 14-20, 2004

* “Mitt Romney’s wife, son, and daughter-in-law signed a petition in support of a proposed constitutional amendment that would ban both gay marriage and domestic-partner benefits in Massachusetts - an amendment that Romney himself condemned as too extreme after being told of his family’s support for it. … Eric Fehrnstrom, a Romney campaign spokesman, said Romney opposes gay marriage but also opposes the amendment, since he sees no reason to change the current laws, which allow for domestic-partner benefits to public employees.… ‘Mitt did not know they signed it, and Mitt does not support it,’ he said. ‘As far as Mitt is concerned, it goes farther than current law, and therefore it’s unnecessary.’ “
- Boston Globe 3/22/2002

* “Romney was unaware his family members had signed the amendment petition, said Fehrnstrom, and he does not support the “Protection of Marriage” amendment. “He is opposed to gay marriage, but in the case of the ‘defense of marriage’ amendment Mitt believes it goes too far in that it would outlaw domestic partnership for non-traditional couples. That is something he is not prepared to accept.”
- Bay Windows 3/28/02

“At the time, Romney said he didn’t ‘line up with the NRA.’ But when he decided to run for president, Romney signed up for a lifetime membership in the National Rifle Association.”

I’ve been a Life NRA Member for years.

What disappoints me the most about Mitt Romney is he appears to be a slick opportunist. To become a Life NRA Member when you decide to run for President, for the sake of pure political expediency is quite frankly disgusting.

This shifting of political positions (gay marriage, guns, murder through abortion) demonstrates a foundation of quicksand instead of solid bedrock. This is by a man now in his 60’s, not some kid in their early 20’s. We don’t need a President who is trying to decide which side of major moral issues are right and just - the Holy Bible provides a sure foundation on moral issues that is solid and never to be compromised.

I will not vote for Mr. Romney.

* When Romney was running against Sen. Ted Kennedy, Bay Windows asked him how he would have voted on an amendment to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act that would ban federal funds from public schools which are “encouraging or supporting homosexuality as a positive lifestyle alternative.” He answered:

“I would have opposed that amendment...It...grossly misunderstands the gay community by insinuating that there’s an attempt to proselytize a gay lifestyle on the part of the gay community. I think it’s wrong-headed and unfortunate and hurts the party by being identified with the Republican party.”
