New York NOW Chapter SLAMS Ted Kennedy for endorsing Hillary's opponent
Times Union ^ | 01/28/2008

Posted on 01/28/2008 10:55:17 AM PST by 1Old Pro

The National Organization for Women’s New York chapter issued a scathing reaction to Sen. Ted Kennedy’s endorsement of Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton. Actually, the word “scathing” feels inadequate here.

Read for yourself:

“Women have just experienced the ultimate betrayal. Senator Kennedy’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton’s opponent in the Democratic presidential primary campaign has really hit women hard. Women have forgiven Kennedy, stuck up for him, stood by him, hushed the fact that he was late in his support of Title IX, the ERA, the Family Leave and Medical Act to name a few. Women have buried their anger that his support for the compromises in No Child Left Behind and the Medicare bogus drug benefit brought us the passage of these flawed bills. We have thanked him for his ardent support of many civil rights bills, BUT women are always waiting in the wings.

“And now the greatest betrayal! We are repaid with his abandonment! He’s picked the new guy over us. He’s joined the list of progressive white men who can’t or won’t handle the prospect of a woman president who is Hillary Clinton (they will of course say they support a woman president, just not “this” one). ‘They’ are Howard Dean and Jim Dean (Yup! That’s Howard’s brother) who run DFA (that’s the group and list from the Dean campaign that we women helped start and grow). They are Alternet, Progressive Democrats of America, democrats.com, Kucinich lovers and all the other groups that take women’s money, say they’ll do feminist and women’s rights issues one of these days, and conveniently forget to mention women and children when they talk about poverty or human needs or America’s future or whatever.

“This latest move by Kennedy, is so telling about the status of and respect for women’s rights, women’s voices, women’s equality, women’s authority and our ability – indeed, our obligation - to promote and earn and deserve and elect, unabashedly, a President that is the first woman after centuries of men who ‘know what’s best for us.’”

NOW is a feminist advocacy group, not a “normal” women’s group.

Wow! You would think he killed somebody after reading that! He'd have been better off raping someone than to endorse Obama. I wonder what NOW has against black men.

I have a feeling that the standing of a lot of lib organisations is going to be in the crapper after these primaries, even among their own.

Obviously Ted Kennedy knows why his nephew’s plane fell out of the sky.

I got down about 10 posts, and no one mentioned the fact that Hillary enabled Big Bill, serial sexual assault perpetrator, with comments like ‘Better put some ice on that.’

There’s just too much good stuff here, isn’t there?

Ha ha! Good. That mad angry rant shows exactly what radical man-hating feminazis are like. Bitter shrews.
Any person who belongs to that washed-up organization of nagging bigots is totally out of his/her/its mind.

IIRC, Now’s last convention attracted 50 or 500 people. A total debacle.

Seriously, who would go to a convention populated by ugly, smelly nags? I mean, does it get any worse than that?

Funny they weren’t outraged at the first president to be accused of raping two women.

The blog entry at TimesUnion is real, but I could not find any such content on a NOW website, or anywhere else on the web.

I assure you that the content is legitimate, it is from the state editor's blog at the Times Union. You can e-mail him from his site link if you wish to get the whole press release, I'm sure he would post a link.

prefer Jiffy Pop, some might like Orville Redenbacher

You should try my Pig Fat Pop Corn
2 T bacon drippings
2/3 C organic popping corn
4 T (1/2 stick) of melted butter (NOT margarine)
salt, pepper and Parmesan cheese

Pop the pop corn in the pig fat. In a small bowl pour in some popped corn. Drizzle with butter (from a spoon or fine tipped pouring receptacle). Dust with salt, pepper, and Parmesan to taste. Pour this into a bigger bowl and repeat. Using the smaller bowl helps to have more uniform Parmesan coverage.

To spice things up a bit, if desired, add 1/4 t of crushed red pepper to the pig fat while it is heating up. For best results let the hot fat cool with the red pepper then heat again to pop the corn. This will infuse the pig fat with more of the heat from the peppers. Alternately you can use 1 1/2 T of pig fat and 1/2-1 T of a hot infused oil.
