Video: McCain asked about Juan Hernandez at Florida campaign event

The straight-talking senator was asked about his Hispanic Outreach Director, Dr. Juan Hernandez, at a campaign event in Florida Sunday. Here’s video of his reaction.

SENATOR JOHN MCCAIN: He’s on my staff because he supports my policies and my proposals and my legislative proposal to secure the borders first. No one will receive social security benefits who is in this country illegally. I don’t know what his previous positions are or other positions are, he supports mine. I have nothing to do with his. He has volunteered to help me with outreach to our Hispanic citizenry as I outreach to every citizen in America. I’ve been very clear on my position on immigration; I’ve been very clear on my position on Social Security. Of course I am grateful that so many people came from Ireland to the United States of American and anybody else who come here legally and that’s the only system I will ever support. I have no idea but I will check in to the information you’ve given me. I promise you, I will secure our borders, I will not allow anyone to come here illegally, I will not allow anyone to receive Social Security or any other benefits because they have come here illegally and broken our laws.

Dr. Hernandez is on the record, on his own web site no less, favoring the free flow of people between the United States and Mexico. The following quote is set off in large red letters on Hernandez’s web site.

I do not need to talk write a long post to say this simple message of truth.

Click the link below to see what John McCain offers the G.O.P. Its alot of lies thrown at Mitt Romney. McCain is desperate and the polls in Florida may be the reason McCain decided to tell trusting Voters a whopper of a lie on Saturday.

Have at look the M.S.M. finally decided to be objective on this one at least.

“to secure the borders first.”
B.S. John you are so disingenuous and a liar.
McLame is the biggest backer of the amnesty bill allowing 20 million ILLEGALS to remain and start collecting social security and welfare etc.
This is securing our borders?
HOw about rounding up ALL freaking ILLEGALS and sending them back to from where they came.
Ya want to come here? try doing it legally or get a one way ticket to from whatever crap hole ya came from.
No RINOs, No McCain

Not only is John McCain traitorous as far as immigration. He is senile. A younger person would be called a moron

John McCain has a ton of drive for a 70 year old but not an ounce of common sense. Ultimately he has no loyalty to America because he has no regard for our sovereignty. The North Vietnamese wrecked this guy and warped his mind

***** He’s a friend of Hillary too! Amazing!

(Indeed, I checked a computer database and discovered that, in the national media, Romney is at least six times more likely to be described as a flip-flopper than McCain.) This does not merely ignore but actually inverts the truth.
The fact is that no presidential candidate in either party has flip-flopped as egregiously as McCain on such a wide range of issues. Here’s just a small sample of Sen. Straight Talk’s recent series of remarkable conversions to politically convenient stances:
On abortion rights, McCain has done a 180-degree turn, from favoring only the most minor restrictions and opposing the overturning of Roe v. Wade, to supporting an almost total ban, while advocating that the Supreme Court reverse Roe immediately.
McCain has transformed himself from a deficit hawk who mocked supply-side economics into someone who sounds like he’s drunk deeply from the wackiest vats of supply-side Kool-Aid, to the point where he now claims raising taxes decreases revenues (a claim so wildly in conflict with the facts — for example, federal tax revenues almost doubled in real terms after the Clinton tax increases
— that it’s either a shameless lie or a product of astounding ignorance).” Raising taxes does decrease revenue, it certainly can.
But anyway,

“In regard to ethanol subsidies, McCain has gone from treating them as the worst sort of pork to becoming a strong supporter of a program despised by economists, but beloved of Iowa farmers and the good people at Archer Daniels Midland. Six years ago, McCain sternly condemned Jerry Falwell as
‘an agent of intolerance.’
Eighteen months ago, he gave the commencement address at Falwell’s university, while openly embracing one of the most noxious figures of the religious right.”
Now, this is a guy from the Scripps Howard News Service, Paul Campos, from whose piece I’m reading here.
“These are just a few examples from a far longer list. On topics ranging from immigration, to campaign finance reform, to gay marriage, to accepting support from various sleazy characters he previously shunned, McCain has either completely reversed his views or seriously equivocated regarding what they are this week. Yet the media continue to lavish him with worshipful paeans to his supposedly uncompromising commitment to principled leadership no matter what the political cost etc., etc.
Part of this is accounted for by lazy autopilot journalism ...
But part of it is something worse. When it comes to McCain, many of the sophisticates at the top of the media pyramid are like a masochistic spouse who treats open infidelity as a twisted sort of faithfulness. They love McCain because when he lies to their face he doesn’t even pretend to be doing otherwise. According to the pretzel logic of a certain kind of journalism, that counts as candor.”
When you openly lie to a journalist you’re being honest about your lie, then that’s candor.

“All this would be merely amusing if McCain were not a genuinely tragic figure. The young man who showed such exemplary courage in the face of his North Vietnamese tormentors has become an old man whose courage abandoned him when subjected to the more subtle tortures of worldly ambition.”
Paul Campos is a law professor at the University of Colorado and this appeared in the Scripps Howard News

It doesn't bode well that a man who wants to be president to not know who's he's hiring as his Hispanic Outreach Director, paid or unpaid. It seems highly unlikely to me. If he didn't know before he was asked, he does now and should fire the man immediately. Hernandez sounds like an active enemy foreign agent to me.

Mr. Tancredo had something to say about Hernandez at http://www.pipelinenews.org/bbs/viewpost.cfm?particleid=732 :

And here’s Tom Tancredo recounting how Hernandez told him that Mexico and the U.S. are not two separate countries, but “just a region:”

TANCREDO: I had a great argument one time with a gentleman by the name of Juan Hernandez who was at that time the minister of that ministry that I just mentioned, the Ministry for Mexicans Living in the United States.

And I asked him that very question. What he told me the purpose of his ministry was to push people into the United States, it was to—by the way, it was also AFC work with them so that they did—he was with the community, he said. He was three days a week in the United States, four in Mexico.

By the way, he himself is a dual citizen born in Texas, university—teaching at the University of Texas and on the Vicente Fox cabinet. And he said, “I work with the community in the United States, the Mexican community because I don‘t want them essentially going native on us. We want them continually tied emotionally, linguistically, politically to Mexico, because then they‘ll continue to send money home.”

And I said to him, that does not sound like—you know, you‘re doing something that‘s actually the act of an unfriendly government.

CARLSON: Well, of course, it doesn‘t in any way serve American interests. It undermines our country in a pretty direct and direct and obvious way.

TANCREDO: Tucker, his response. Let me tell you his response.

CARLSON: Yes.

TANCREDO: At the end he goes, “Congressman,” in an incredibly condescending way. He goes, “Congressman, it‘s not two countries; it‘s just a region.”

CARLSON: That is not my view, to put it mildly.

TANCREDO: Not mine either. Now, incredibly, Juan Hernandez is GOP presidential candidate John McCain’s Hispanic Outreach Director. He is, as my Nevada reader wrote, a sovereignty-undermining extremist who “whose views and interests are so clearly anti-security and not in the interest of the American people or for that matter us legal Hispanic immigrants.”

I was a Fredhead, and was clear that he and Duncan were the only honest candidates in the race. Now that Fred is gone, I’m not so much supporting McCain, as trying to open people’s eyes to the fact Romney’s deceptions are a red flag.

All of these a-holes running get a government check - EXCEPT MITT ROMNEY.

All the rest are really on welfare and have nothing outside of government.
