As this cycle began, Democrats looked united and prepared to take advantage of deep divisions in the Republicans ranks. But the increasingly bitter and personal attacks exchanged by Sens. Barack Obama (Ill.) and Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) suddenly raise the possibility that the eventual Democratic nominee will have to heal wounds that are as deep as those in the GOP.
Could Democrats, who are unified in their dissatisfaction with George W. Bush and have been pleased with their presidential field, really become so divided that they give a surprising opening to the eventual Republican nominee? Yes.

I’d love to believe it but it ain’t happening.
Come the general election the Rats will lock step together like they always do. By the way I think the ticket will be Clinton/Obama with Edwards promised a nice sweet Attorney General or Supreme Court Justice slot.
I can’t imagine a world with HILLARY, OBAMA and EDWARDS all in charge..... and BILL coaching from the sidelines......
Well I’d find it hard to believe, but I guess the left could have caught on to the idea that they are better represented on the right than most of us are.
I’ve certainly come to that conclusion.
Republicans never needed an “opening”.
Republicans are the true, silent majority in this country in belief if not in formal party registration. As long as Republicans unify, Democrats are screwed. Everytime.
We saw it with Reagan, we saw it with Bush, and this year we will see it with Romney.
I refuse to acknowledge the media’s talking points that would elevate the Democrats far beyond what they deserve. I will enjoy watching their excuses after November, AGAIN. Remember that the opening paragraph of the article could have been written in 2004, substituting Dean and Kerry for Clinton and Obama. Yeah, they hate Bush. Yeah, they have a million polls showing they are going to win by 107% of the vote. And again, they will be embarassed come election day as the truth is finally demonstrated to the point where they will B&M that they election had to be stolen.
I concur. I never expected it, but Hillary has made two huge and serious mistakes in her campaign:
1. She responded to desperate Obama's attacks on her and attacked Obama and alienated black, young and hip constituency which she never should have done.
2. She brought Bill into (or couldn't keep Bill from) her campaign, and as many other Democrats running for office found out that Bill Clinton is not as "popular" as he and she and they all think he is, and has never been an asset in any Democratic campaign, except his own, because wherever he is, it's all about him and him alone, no matter what his lips are saying. And "American Idol" he is not.
Bill Clinton: 'Screw It, I'm Running For President'
Even Kennedys see it as a chance to position Obama as a "new, black" reincarnation of JFK, and to wrestle the control of the party from "grifters" and "carpetbaggers" Clintons back to their clan.
Obama would be a much weaker and easier to defeat candidate in general election, without Clinton's famed triangulation and not even potential for pretense of CiC credentials and executive experience, public or private. Especially with a serious rift inside Democratic Party, between people who consider themselves "hip", and what will amount to Clintons' loyalists - they, just as Republicans, will run without an "heir to the throne", which is what Hillary was supposed to be.
O!bama, you go girl!
Stuie it’s only “surprising” to you. The numbers just don’t add up for either the beast or abracadabra.
I’m still not voting for the lesser of two evils.
No more.
Agree...no more “lesser of two evils” voting for me.
I apologize.
I didnt mean to single you out and direct my post to you. I meant to direct it to all.
Regards.

LOL...I wouldn't be surprised if she announced Richardson as her VP between now and Feb. 4th.
..but it's Biblical when forces ...on the same side... turn against each other and tear each other apart...
..it could happen.
People ARE praying....
..."for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms"
Our nation is in a battle for good/evil like never before.
Why? He’s a nonentitity in the race, brings a tiny state (NM) and she can count on the “Latino” vote (both legal and illegal) anyway. And naming a VP before the nomination is locked up will just add to the (justified) immpression she’s after a coronation not a nomination.
