Ouch! Maybe being an ex-president isn't what it used to be. Especially after you've tarnished the image throwing so much South Carolina mud.
This is the biggest Democratic endorsement Obama could possibly get short of Bill Clinton, said a high-level Democrat.
The Clinton campaign launched a last-ditch effort over the last few days to stop Kennedy's move, orchestrating a flood of phone calls to Kennedy from sources ranging from union chiefs to his Massachusetts constituents.
The former president also called Kennedy in a vain attempt to keep him out of the race, a source familiar with the conversation said.
During his two terms in the White House, President Clinton made repeated overtures to the Kennedy family. So the senators rejection of his wife is at least as embarrassing as her 28-point loss in the South Carolina primary on Saturday.
“but to the kennedys, clinton will always be the fat little ignorant b*stard from the wrong side of the tracks.”
Exactly. East coast moneyed families see the Clintons as Arkansas pig farmers.
Is there a “Golden Gate” in Boston?
"...changed the trajectory of America in a way that Richard Nixon did not and in a way that Bill Clinton did not."
Ouch...I don't know if that was at a speech near Ft. Sumter or not...but the Uncivil War may be at hand...
But Ms Hillary...(whining) I don't know nothin' bout changin' no trajectories!
” The Kennedys are demigods in Democrat circles.”
.....the media sure thinks so....personally, I’ve got my doubts....Camelot was a long, long time ago....I know....I rang door bells for JFK when he ran for President....there are now millions upon millions of Americans that know more about the life of Brittany Spears than John Kennedy...given how 2nd and 3rd generation of Hyannis brats have screwed up, the Kennedy name ain’t what it used to be...and they may not have the money they once had either.
But it's more like
Lyndon knew a lot about stealing elections. The story of Lyndon, the Duke of Duval, Box 13 and the stolen election are almost folklore here in Texas, now.
Exactly, I am an independent in California, and cannot vote in the Republican primary, so I gave my vote to the big O.. any thing to beat Mrs. William Cliton, wife of the impeached ex president...
Kennedy For Obama: Intends to campaign aggressively with Western trip this week, followed by appearances in Northeast... Kennedy upset over attempts by Clinton campaign to highlight Obama's race and distortions of statements, record... made views known in call with former president.... Developing...
WILL HILL CHILL BILL?
>> I think Obama better hire this guy for protection.
I’m afraid he’ll have to wait until the writers get back to work.
Good one.
In the Northeast, particularly Massachusetts, the Kennedys are still gods. Elsewhere, they're barely of interest. The press still adores them, though.
By the way, I thought about something while typing this post. For years, it seemed odd to me that Lyndon Johnson was hated so much by the mass media. He got more socialist programs passed than any President except Roosevelt and was a Democrat, but the press treated him with the revulsion usually reserved for any Republican president. I think I've finally figured it out. Bobby Kennedy wanted to run for President in 1968, when Johnson would have been up for re-election. Johnson had to be destroyed for Bobby to get the nomination. Of course, it was easy to do, as Johnson was a particularly nasty piece of work. He was far better at the strong arm behind the scenes good old boy brand of politics than dealing with the glitz and glamour required to be in the press daily on the national scene.
Damm! You tempt me!
Then when Bobby was assassinated by an islamist, they had already destroyed their best, and possibly only viable Plan B.
At least there are still some aspects of this election season that can make me smile ... Teddy giving Bill and Hill the cold shoulder is a beautiful schadenfreude moment.
There is probably no finer argument against Prohibition...
I’m evil that way...
