This is great news and proves that the pro-life movement and it's positive message on a culture of life works. It also proves that more education and better science doesn't translate into more abortions, but less. Why? because women understand more than ever that abortion kills a human being. With 4D ultrasound and understanding the begining of life better scientifically one cannot put the blinders on any longer and rely on the empty rhetoric that we just don't know when life begins or it's nat really a human.
It's still disappointing that the writers of this article and the people behind the study try to explain away these results with everything but the obvious that Americans generally do not want to kill their children.

Perhaps the reason there are less abortion mills is because there is less a demand for abortion. I remember some class I took in highschool about supply and demand.
The article also is a warning as to abortifacients. Their use is up, and the dangers they pose is real. Plus the fact that those that provide them don't warn the people that are taking them that they are truly abortifacients.
This is proof that no matter what the politicians, or courts, or the media, say, abortions will drop if people are properly informed.

What is needed is a national pro-life ad campaign. Organizers would be paid more or less or even fired depending on the success of the campaign.

Laws don’t drive public opinion, but public opinion can and does drive the law.

I wonder if the rate of abortions has dropped because there are less non-Hispanic (Hispanics are largely Catholic) young people around to get pregnant.

More women are pro-life than men. The most pro-abortion group is men in their 20's (according to a survey more than a decade ago -- the younger generation is more pro-life).
Mike Huckabee gets a shade more support from women than men.

I recently read somewhere that abortions are down, but use of the abortion pill (I believe it is called RU-486) is up by about 21% if the article I read is correct. Seems that doctors that won’t do abortions are more willing to write a script. . .

The death of 1.2 million children a year via abortion is a testament to how our culture has degraded over the last 60 or so years. Morally is tossed away without even an afterthought when it comes to the birth and rearing of children.
I pray that my grandchildren are alive and happy, and I offer the same prayer for their children and offspring, forever. For others who have not seen the light, I pray that their hearts may be turned to the Gospel of Life, and discard the world of darkness.
The women getting pregnant today are those who weren't aborted as fetuses after Roe v Wade. The most pro abortion women have fewer children. Pro life women have more children who tend to grow up to be pro life themselves. The DemocRATS have aborted a large portion of a whole generation of potential DemocRAT voters.
I have a neighbor(who's pretty typical) who's 24 and has had three children from three different daddies, pulling in $1,400 per month. Her mother did the same thing. It's just enough to not work. It's been three years since the last one and she's really trying to expand her income again.
Medical knowledge and technology has played the major role in much of this change. Not being in that area of work, I haven’t contributed to that. Not being in politics, I haven’t done anything there, except small financial contributions to NRLC. We are seeing a cultural shift in certain notable movies, especially coming from the under-35 crowd. I’m a “sometimes” songwriter and I offer my little contribution to the hearts and minds battle for the culture at http://www.myspace.com/emmettgrayson. When I play it publicly, I get much more favorable response from younger folks than from most of my own generation.
A no win no matter what with a nanny state...and they’ll keep voting for the party that forwards the agenda of such leeches on society.
