McCain hasn’t done squat for the military. His boasts about the surge are baloney - he supported needing 250,000+, and never mentioned a change in tactics.
Plus he would easily become a Dr Strangelove.

McCain is lying about his affect on the surge. He just wanted big numbers of boots on the ground which would have "Americanized" the effort. He is also lying about what Romney actually said about "timetables," as Brit tried to point out over Chris Wallace's efforts to convince everyone that Romney is the liar.
Wallace is openly opposed to Romney.
McCain acted like a spoiled child because he despised Rumsfeld. All he did was go out and lambaste the man because but of course, McCain should have been the Sec of Defense.
McCain does not have the greater good of either this country or the Republican party in mind. McCain is about McCain. Hillary is all about Hillary only she’s slightly more honest about it.
Nobody questions InSane on his Surge claim. He wanted a Vietnam type force, not a mere 30K troops. He never had any idea of how this Surge would work. He wanted 250,000 troops and a draft.
