The Talk Shows
Sunday, January 27th, 2008
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y.; former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Gen. David Petraeus; Paulson; former Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Mass.; Huckabee.
I know that Maureen Dowd was on the trip, but she was filing stories on the election, including ones with specific bylines implying she was in New Hampshire and not Jerusalem on primary day (the stories included first hand descriptions of events as if she were there).
The only thing they wanted to report from Bush's trip was any potential failures or something they could spin into a failure. Of course, they would have loved to be close (but not too close) if Bush were to be killed. That's a career maker for them. That's how an incompetent mook like Dan Rather made it to the big time.
The only reason I know that MoDo was on the ME trip was a story that was posted here about her getting sick on AF1 and Bush sending his own doctor to treat her. A couple of blogs, like LGF and PowerLine, picked up on the fake byline story as well from someone in Jerusalem.
Next to Fred, I would love John Cornyn on the ticket. Now that would be quite a pair. Dark handsome Romney and white-haired handsome Cornyn. A movie star ticket, for sure.
By the way, Cornyn is up for re-election this time and his opponent is named Noriega. Duh.
41 nixed a software opportunity to Perot worth a billion.
If that’s the case, Perot got revenge big time. The fact that it gave us Clinton apparently didn’t bother him.
Great quotation from Gilbert and Sullivan.
LOL!
“never forget that Ross Perot was the most successful (almost) 3rd party candidate ever. He really hurt Bush. In fact, he killed him the first time.”
True enough.
I think the lesson here is that outcomes are often multi factorial and teasing out the seminal factor is difficult if not impossible.
Often it’s more a case of a confluence of events that determine outcomes.
But, it’s fun to argue anyway.
It’s fun to argue here where everyone is ‘kinda’ civilized.
You know my theory that the Sunday Morning Talk Shows only exist so we can have this thread.
BTW, I misspoke (and have already corrected myself), it was LIZ Cheney, not Lynne but the good points are similar and this is good news for Mitt.
Agreed. I support Mr. Giuliani, but I’m a realist. His chances of surviving beyond Florida are slim.
If that is the case, I hope Mr. Romney succeeds in turning back Mr. McCain. Mr. Romney can beat Obama. and in my opinion would make a fine president.
(BTW: ANY pubbie can beat Hillary like a rug)
Huckabee is adressing the “fair tax” scam in the state of florida where they were DEVASTATED by the 1991 luxury tax.
The man is a political bufoon.
ALL the luxury sales went to the caribean islands too avoid that mere 10% tax.
a 30% tax will be ecconomic suicide.
this is on cnn.
Also huckster is not talking about the MASSIVE entitlement program that is part of HR 25 http:thomas.gov
this is the idiot the evangelicals hooked onto?
huckabee is nonsense personified.
Very odd about Rudy. He came out of the gate as unbeatable and now he’s nowhere. I kinda like him. Much better than McCain or Huck anyway.
I completely agree. If Fred has to endorse someone- let it be Romney. While Mitt is far removed from my idea of a conservative- he’s so much better than McCain.
Extolling McCain’s virtues now. Barf.
Yes again- the MSM and FOX included is all Huck/McPain all the time. It's OBVIOUS who they want, and that Sean H wants Rudy.
I was originally for Hunter, but now that he's out; I'm going with Ann Coulter, my hubby, my brother, & Liz Cheney (and perhaps many others from Thompson's campaign HQ).....ROMNEY!
Their staying home could have an influence, however. I oppose Obama and Hillary because of the policies they would impose and, in Hillary's case, because she's just an evil nasty person. I think that a significant majority in the evangelical movement would too.
If it's Mitt vs. Hillary watch Mitt's faith to be played up, big time. If it's Mitt vs. Obama I wouldn't expect it to be mentioned, except possibly references to the Mormon church's past official positions on race, and I think Romney has an effective response to that.
What is all of this “White Guilt”? In a Chicago office I took a survey 92% of the work forces families arrived in the USA after the civil war, they had NOTHING to do with slavery. 50% of the those 8% who’s families had owned slaves had freed those slaves before 1825!
As for being “swayed by an inspirational speaker” we will no doubt have a group that will fall under the spell of another, however, when questioned about Mr. Obama’s stands on the issues the spell is soon broken by emptiness, revealing nothing but, the projections of a willing victim.
Huckabee just gave his “fair tax” scam speech in jacksonville.
He DARE not give it in south florida where the luxury tax wiped out the personal boat industry until its repeal.
(transactions just moved 90 miles east)
CNN showed him playing his guitar.
Seems more like nero playing the lyre while his campaign rome burns.
well duh.............he named a VP who said
what is my name and why am I here
While I like Mr. Giuliani, I never invest too much emotion on my favored candidate early on in the primary. I’ve been disappointed too many times in the past.
But, I’ve always thought we had a strong field compared to the ‘rats. So, I’d be satisfied with Romney. I think he can win against Obama or Hillary.
If it’s McCain? Well, grab the nose and pull the lever. Better than a ‘rat.
