In four days, on the night of January 29th , Rudy Giuliani will know the fate of his political career. The Republican Presidential candidate and former Mayor of New York City is pushing all of his chips into the middle on the state of Florida. Anything but a first place finish will for all intents and purposes end the former frontrunners chance at the Republican nomination. Just two short months ago Giuliani led Florida by a full 20 percentage points over Mitt Romney, but as of today Giuliani trails McCain and Romney by an average of about 5%. This represents a 25 percent nosedive in the polls.
So what the hell happened? This is the man that cleaned up the capital of the western world and bravely helped his city recover after the devastating attacks of September 11th. Well, what happened was the voters began to pay attention. While Rudy was enjoying the perks that come with being the GOP front-runner, the rest of the candidates were busy carving out their niche in the election by championing an issue to give their campaign a distinguished voice. Mitt Romney is the accomplished venture capitalist with business savvy and mannequin good looks. McCain presented himself as the war hero who will not let the troops come home, this makes him tough on terror. Mike Huckabee branded himself the Christian Leader and has tried to keep a cross hovering over his shoulder as often as possible. Fred Thompson was the champion of gun rights who honed his political wit on the set of Law and Order and Law and Order: SVU. Ron Paul has gone against the grain by telling the American people the truth and he is the Champion of the Constitution.
Rudys issue became not cleaning up crime in New York City, but simply holding the title of mayor at the time of the September 11th attacks. The majority of the American people have yet to make the connection of how that would make him a great President and I dont see it either. Even Tancredo made a name for himself with immigration.
Then just as the American people began to realize that Rudy didnt have an issue the scandals began to roll in one after another, and they would not go away. Bernard Kerik, Giulianis former driver who worked his way up to New York Citys police chief under the close tutelage of Mayor Rudy, was indicted on Federal corruption charges. This scandal single handedly exposed Giulianis lack of judgment when making important decisions because Giuliani not only promoted Kerik to Police Chief but he also recommended him for Director of Homeland Security. The American people began to worry that if Rudys right hand man was facing a laundry list of federal indictments, then what would his eventual Presidential cabinet would be a nightmare.
The Kerik scandal was just one of many scandals to plague Rudys campaign. Others included having New York Citys finest walk his mistresss dog, allowing his law firm to do business with sworn enemies of the United States the list goes on and on.
And this is not to mention that the man suffers from uncontrollable giggling fits. He has been heard giggling during important moments of GOP Presidential debates. He also giggled his way through most of an extremely important Meet the Press interview. The general feeling towards Rudy after such pathetic performances was pity and embarrassment because nobody enjoys watching a man publicly self destruct.
But dont feel too bad for the guy he will always have the lecture circuit and quite honestly, I think we will be more comfortable there. He will also get a chance to catch up on his reading.
I think the candidates (ALL OF THEM) were basing their strategy on a MSM news cycle and not an internet media cycle.
Not even the MSM “got it” with the internet. They thought the ronpaul netziens would focus on that dead end road leaving the adults to focus on a old media news campaign.
Giuliani's baffle-gab to dupe the electorate flopped miserably. His whacked-out bizarre strategy of "saving himself for the big states" saying he wasn't competing in early primaries/caucses was a big crock.
Means his flop in Florida on Tuesday will tbe sound heard around the world. His presidential ambitions will be over.
Up until the bitter end, Giuliani was duping the voters. He just announced his top staffers are working gratis---b/c Giuliani wants voters to think he managed to spend all his campaign money without having actually competed in any of the early primary/caucus states.
Baloney. The truth is that Rudy spent all his money because he HAS competed in all those states, and he lost dismally. The number of times Rooty went to New Hampshire to campaign was second only to Romney.
Rudy just CLAIMS he hasn't been competing because the results show he is a bigtime loser, a political reject, trounced by primary/caucus voters.
Giuliani practically lived in Florida to get his campaign launched---and he can't even get transplanted New Yorkers in Fla to rally behind him. Giuliani's flim-flam game has made him lose whatever credibility he had left (not much).
Look at these bozos running... they all look like crap...
Not one of them looks good except Romney. None of these bozos have ever done anything that wasnt connected with some sort of government excess.
Romney doesnt NEED the job, he can do just fine on his own in the private sector. The rest would be groveling for chump change if it wasnt for some type of government work or insider contacts with a state enterprise.
I have seen lots of convoluted, meandering definitions of conservatism, but when the rubber hits the road, who would be left standing with no worries in THE PRIVATE SECTOR based solely on their own merit???
Romney is the only one of them...
The last thing the Democrats want is a tall, vibrant, healthy man like Mitt Romney standing next to their short, fat old hag during the national debates.
There's a difference between throwing on a skirt as a gag (like high school football players do on "powder puff" rallies) and spending six hours in a beauty salon getting the works.
Reminds me of a Halloween party I went to a few years back. The host was dressed as a fairy and looked better than his wife (who was also dressed as a fairy). On the way home, my wife and I commented that the host seemed to be "really into" his costume.
Well a couple of years later, the host couple broke up and the husband pursued an "alternative lifestyle" if you get my drift. Being that Rudy is now on his third marriage, one gets the impression that Rudy might be better off pursuing that alternative lifestyle and forgetting about the presidency.
The voting public is influenced by appearances, it seems. It can't be ignored.
Baloney. The truth is that Rudy spent all his money because he HAS competed in all those states, and he lost dismally. The number of times Rooty went to New Hampshire to campaign was second only to Romney.
BINGO!
I recall early on the MSM and Fox News pundits saying Rooty would be a favorite in NH with it being so close to New York (only 145 miles to the border from NYC), and with Mitt his only real rival.
(Think that's when McInsane was on life support and his chances declared dead)
Was that before or after Rooty/Jooty duped Hannity into doing an interview?
Roo/Joo's revelation on 20/20 that the bimbo would sit in on Cabinet meetings really ticked off voters.
The two con artists SWORE on Hannity that Jooty would not join the Cabinet.
It’s not really epic. More of the tragic.
The only way I see Rudy winning Florida is if he controls the electronic voting machines.
He’s way a head of everyone. 400,000 early voting and absentees are all Rudy’s. He was the only one in Florida when all this took place. Internals show Rudy is winning...McCain and Romney are fighting it out now for #2.
As is the case of most of the Lawn Guyland boys I grew up with, Rudy was selling wolf tickets. Talks like Tony Soprano, acts like Anthony Jr. ;-)

Interesting. Is this just your guess, or do you have a link to some other source?
and dresses like Tony’s wife.
Rudy is done unless he pulls the mother of all come-from-behinds in Florida. He should consider running against Spitzer in 2010.
Of course, I am an agnostic, so, unlike Rudy, I am HONEST about my unbelief.
Rudy should be handling divorces on Long Island or fronting a syndicate to buy the Yankees (and hopefully move them to Vegas).
A few months back Rudy worried me. Now which one of them wins the nomination really doesn’t make much difference.
Rudy is too much of a rootless cosmopolitan to register with a national electorate, intellectually too influenced by catholic statist social thought to appeal to libertarians/constitutionalist, and just plain too dishonest in his associations to appeal to anyone with a fully functioning brain.
If the other candidates didn't see the importance of a major absentee campaign in Florida (of all places) then they're idiots.
