My father passed away this month. Among his effects is a book published by the officers of the 329th Infrantry in July, 1945, from Germany.

I might mention that the 329th Infantry Regiment is part of the 83rd Infantry Division.

Unit histories can sell for some decent cash.

Perhaps you should reconsider though. I will never part with my father's unit history book.

You should keep it. It is an important part of your legacy, passed down from your Father.

Thanks! Another thought, you could copy all the pages onto a CD. This way, you can keep the book. It is your father’s legacy to pass on in your family.

You might sell a few CD’s besides donating one at a historical or genealogy site. It could be valuable source of information.

As a bibliophile who has over 4000 old, mostly rare books in his library, I would strongly advise you to hold on to that.

Few books have as much value as those that have been passed down, especially one that documents the heroism of a family member, as your dearly departed surely was.

Someone down the line will be very thankful to care for that book one day.

All, thanx everyone. I appreciate the comments and suggestions. Our ceremony is on Monday at the veterans cemetery. I think I will talk to the four grandkids and pass it along to the one who speaks up.

PS I do have other items from my dad's expoerience in the war, including dog tags, that I'll keep until my death.

Thank you. He was 91. He was already serving for a year when Pearl Harbor hit. He was due for a discharge Jan 18, 1942.
