One of our college interns—and a fellow Arizonan—believes that the attacks and charges leveled at Senator McCain in recent weeks are unfair. He has written an editorial on the subject, and we've decided to allow him this forum to express his views.
Whether he convinces you or not, just remember....whoever your first choice is now may not win the primary. McCain is not my first choice, but I'll support him tooth and nail against HRC or BHO in the general election. –Christopher Cook
In Defense of John McCain
By Michael McKitterick
McCain, I feel, has gotten a bad rap these last few weeks. I am beginning to worry that some of this propaganda is actually influencing people’s decisions. I am a firm believer in Senator John McCain and for this I have to defend him against attacks that are unwarranted. However, I am just a lonely College Republican with a reputation to speak of, and my pleas haven’t warranted any type of reprieve. So I did a bit of my own research and found some interesting things about the man I support for President.
McCain is a Republican and always has been. McCain was born into a military family and was not only proud to serve this country, but put the country before himself on two occasions. The first was aboard the Forrestal aircraft carrier. His plane caught fire after being hit with a friendly fire missile from another jet. He was wounded and given the opportunity to stay state side, but decided to join the USS Oriskany to continue fighting in Vietnam. The second was after his capture in Vietnam as a Prisoner of War; he refused release due to the Navy Code of Conduct “First in, first out.” He gave up...

Did a high school student write this article?

Probably a University graduate, a ninth grader would probably know better.
While I agree with everything else you say in all fairness the gang of fourteen was so the nominees would get to have a vote. While I would have preferred the nuclear solution it was evident that the repub. leadership did not have the gonads to do it.
Yeah of course they endorse him, because they know he can’t beat Hillary. They must think we are stupid
Regarding Frist, Frist said he was going nuclear and all of the sudden the Gang of Fourteen appeared, orchestrated by McCain. I have little doubt that Frist was indeed going to push the nuclear option. I believe it would have passed, but for McCain’s traitorous actions to conservatives.
Yes, I forgot about McCain’s new Al Gore Global Warming Bill and the sign in New Hampshire. Thanks for reminding me!
Crazy Johnny has done more damage to the CONSERVATIVE base of the Republican Party in the last 10 years than both Clintons combined.
One thing you have to respect about Mccain is how he doesn’t use his military record as a soapbox to get elected - the way Kerry tried to do... And Mccain’s record is very honorable, I have to say. It is true - he did put his country before himself.
I just can’t support him though - he’s just too liberal and his stance on illegal immigration is dangerous.

He never would have gone anywhere without the help of his Admiral dad.
Modern Conservative = RINO
Mitt ain’t perfect but he’s a hell of a lot more honest and more of a conservative then McCain ever was or will be.
Well! I don’t want to beat a dead horse here but where would we be now without the filibuster. It works both ways you know.
McCain will be a disaster for the GOP - the Manchurian Candidate. His agenda is liberal and damaging to this country. He is creepy and appears in poor mental and physical health. There are his horrible treatment of his first wife, his adultery, Keating 5, and CFR. He is not fit to be POTUS.
A crappy article defending a crappy guy. I will not pretend McCain is in any way heroic today. What he did forty years ago is in the past. He has been a Senator for some time and his actions of the last seven years and more are anything but heroic. John McCain is a party of one and I will not praise or support such a selfish, ill-intended man.
McCain/Lieberman
McCain/Feingold
McCain/Kennedy
Gang of 14
Voting against tax cuts
McCain can get bent.
How is lying when Fox exit poll showed him winning the most Republicans in NH, and tying in SC? Let me guess you have an exit poll showing him losing by 1 point? There is a margin of error.
