A spirited defense of John McCain

One of our college interns—and a fellow Arizonan—believes that the attacks and charges leveled at Senator McCain in recent weeks are unfair. He has written an editorial on the subject, and we've decided to allow him this forum to express his views.
Whether he convinces you or not, just remember....whoever your first choice is now may not win the primary. McCain is not my first choice, but I'll support him tooth and nail against HRC or BHO in the general election. –Christopher Cook
In Defense of John McCain
By Michael McKitterick
McCain, I feel, has gotten a bad rap these last few weeks. I am beginning to worry that some of this propaganda is actually influencing people’s decisions. I am a firm believer in Senator John McCain and for this I have to defend him against attacks that are unwarranted. However, I am just a lonely College Republican with a reputation to speak of, and my pleas haven’t warranted any type of reprieve. So I did a bit of my own research and found some interesting things about the man I support for President.
McCain is a Republican and always has been. McCain was born into a military family and was not only proud to serve this country, but put the country before himself on two occasions. The first was aboard the Forrestal aircraft carrier. His plane caught fire after being hit with a friendly fire missile from another jet. He was wounded and given the opportunity to stay state side, but decided to join the USS Oriskany to continue fighting in Vietnam. The second was after his capture in Vietnam as a Prisoner of War; he refused release due to the Navy Code of Conduct “First in, first out.” He gave up...

Now JMcC has a new commercial showing all the democrat candidates using his name, declaring him the nominee. And all the liberal commentators are declaring him electable, even though he supports the surge and they dont. They know he destroys our party, thats all he has for them.

I supported Bob Dole tooth and nail in 1996 when he ran against Bill Clinton. Heck, I supported BetaMax tooth and nail against VHS.
If people have objections to McCain, now is the time to voice them. The Florida primary is in 4 days, and it's very likely that whoever wins Florida this year will win the nomination.

Read it. It’s pretty interesting that the author even thinks this is a good defense. It’s not a very good defense at all. Almost makes me think the whole thing is tongue-in-cheek.

He is the only vet , even the only former POW , the rats pretend to admire . Even though they loathe the military , they continually suggest McCain is owed public office , not with their votes , but ours .

How about that creep Juan Hernandez, the illegals champion, and Vincente Fox B boy, joining McCain’s team?
Hey folks, McCain MUST go. He will ruin this nation. He is the worst choice, he hates the religious, he hates conservatives.
But he just Lovvvves Mexico.

I did see McCain's mom being interviewed. I got to say, she doesn't hold back any punches.
Kind of reminds me of Jean Kilpatrick.

Talking about the Keating scandal:
At this point, McCain vowed that his embarrassment would not happen again to him or anyone else. This is why he worked so hard to put together a campaign reform that keeps politicians from going through the same experience.
Maybe it would work better if THE CORRUPT POLITICIANS LIKE McCAIN GOT FIRED instead of worring about their feelings getting hurt when they get caught stuffing their pockets.
Firstly, amnesty is never said, minced, or hinted at in the bill. It is set forth that all undocumented workers will have to work to get their immigration status legalized.
If it waddles, quacks and has feathers it's amnesty. Maybe the military would have been a better choice for this author than college. He's squishy and needs to learn that actions mean alot more than words and McCain's actions have fully disqualified him from the Presidency. Hell, he should be disqualified from public office.

Truth be told McCain is no worse than Mitt or Huck in lying or changing positions. He is actually better by far. Once Fred left I have been searching. I thought Mitt but I will have to hold off on that. I think I will vote Rudy in Texas, maybe even Fred but I will say that McCains story and his ad showing him in ‘Nam will destroy a Hillary candidacy....if he can keep his cool.

Let’s just remember; McCain-Feingold, global warming, amnesty for illegals, Keating 5,”Gang of 14”, against Bush tax cuts etc. At this point, between him and Romney, I’ll take Mitt.

My objections:
Gang of Fourteen to prevent conservative judiciary nominees, McCain-Kennedy Amnesty, McCain—Feingold violation of free speech, votes against Bush’s tax cuts, ACLU trials for terrorists, no waterboarding, close Gitmo, accusing America of torturing terrorists, votes against the Marriage Amendment, Keating Five, said Kerry was “not weak on defense” in 2004, was considered by Kerry to be his running mate in 2004. ACU rating of only 65 last year, pathetic for a Republican.
Also there is the character issue with McCain. He dumped and divorced his first wife and mother of their three children to marry the wealthy Cindy. He is an angry and profane man, recently displayed when he told conservative Senator Cornyn from Texas: “F*ck You!” “Chicken Sh%T! during McCain—Kennedy hearings. OH, he also likes to grandstand in front of the liberal media. That’s just for starters.
