We have strong disagreements with all the Republicans running for president. The leading candidates have no plan for getting American troops out of Iraq. They are too wedded to discredited economic theories and unwilling even now to break with the legacy of President Bush. We disagree with them strongly on what makes a good Supreme Court justice.
Still, there is a choice to be made, and it is an easy one. Senator John McCain of Arizona is the only Republican who promises to end the George Bush style of governing from and on behalf of a small, angry fringe. With a record of working across the aisle to develop sound bipartisan legislation, he would offer a choice to a broader range of Americans than the rest of the Republican field.

I know people who appear relatively normal and nice, who actually read the NYT. I am confused.
Translation: He’s the most Democrat of the Republicans.
The Slimes choice ... I think a plan is coming to fruition. DemLibs organize election the way they want it.
I’ve never been able to understand why anyone cares about the NYTimes at all. They are like an arm of the DNC.
All those discredited Reaganesque economic policies. Everyone knows Carter was the best thing to ever happen to the economy. Lack of jobs, energy and overbearing inflation notwithstanding.
Victory is our plan for getting the troops out of Iraq.
They are too wedded to discredited economic theories
And those are what?
I despise the NYTimes.
Liberalism is a mental disorder.
How I wish that statement were true.
We used to subscribe to the Times many years ago, and my wife sometimes picks up a copy in the supermarket, perhaps from nostalgia. As far as I can see, nobody really reads it.
In any case, it’s very useful for lighting the wood stove in the morning.
I’m with you.
The New York Times Endorsement means as much to me as the endorsement of my Great Aunt’s neighbor’s cat.
Yawn.
LOL!
It’s all I needed to know...
It’s funny, he was apologetic in the debate about what the Times said about Rudy. I almost thought McCain was going to renounce the endorsement, but he needs every Times reader to vote for him in the open primaries.
“Well, that should settle it. If the New York Times endorses McCain, it will be hard for his supporters to continue to claim that he’s a conservative.”
Don’t worry it won’t stop phony conservatives from voting for him.
Lol, funny!
“discredited economic theories”
Someone should clue the Times in to the fact that real Americans don’t agree with the New York Times and Karl Marx, no matter what delusional tripe they print.
And yeah, this is a nail in old “Amnesty” McCain campaign’s coffin. When a domestic enemy of the United States thinks that you’re the bees’ knees, kiss your chances of being elected goodbye if you’re a Republican candidate.
LOL! No media bias there!
I would urge EVERYONE to read the NRO article on J.McShame written by Mark Krikorian, titled “John McCain, Multiculturalist.” This man is America’s worst nightmare next to Obama and Clinton.
As far as the NYT endorsement, that’s one more reason why the man shouldn’t get yesterday’s newspaper, let alone the Republican nomination !
