Sharapova, Ivanovic move into Australian Open women's final 3 hours ago
MELBOURNE, Australia - A year after losing the Australian Open final in embarrassing fashion to American Serena Williams, Russian Maria Sharapova is looking unstoppable in her quest for a third Grand Slam singles title.
But if it doesn't happen in Saturday's final at Melbourne Park against Serbia's Ana Ivanovic, she won't lose too much sleep over it.
"From the beginning of the tournament, you want to go a step further than you've done in the past," Sharapova said after her 6-3, 6-1 semifinal win over Jelena Jankovic on Thursday.
"That's always your goal, and your mantra going into a tournament. If it's not this Saturday ... if it doesn't happen, hey, it's life."
The way Sharapova is playing, she can afford to be introspective - six straight-set wins, including one that ended No. 1 Justine Henin's 32-match winning streak in the quarter-finals.

If she wins, can we bomb Kosovo in tribute?
lol!
Thanks for the photo. It’s hard to keep abreast of all the names and faces in women’s tennis. This puts a finer point on it all. I have to go now, and buy some frozen food. I don’t know what made me remember that just now.
And people wonder why women’s basketball just doesn’t draw a male audience like women’s tennis. Nothing like a strong forehand stroke. ;-)
Make that two!
Good choice of words.
I hope they bar Uri from being there. What a nut job!
Now that’s just not fair.............
I turned on ESPN2 and there was 2 guys grunting! Ugh.
How does she play in that outfit without her t*ts falling out?
Little? The chick’s 6’1” and 160lbs.
I was more referring to her age...just 20.
She’s a real beauty.
“...I cant put my finger on it.”
True dat.
Unfortunately.
I’ll take the loser. Console her. You know.
I think they should change the rules - for each set they lose, they have to take off an article of clothing.
And Sharapova is pushing 6’3”! Why was Chernobyl a “disaster” again?
