Christian author has problem with conservatives (Religious Left)

ORLANDO, Florida (AP) -- Donald Miller still loves God and Jesus. Don't misunderstand him.

His problem is with Christianity, at least how it's often practiced.

"It's a dangerous term so I try to avoid it," said Miller, who considered giving up his career as a Christian writer and leaving the church in 2003 because he couldn't attend services without getting angry.

For him, the word conjured up conservative politics, suburban consumerism and an "insensitivity to people who aren't like us."

To quell his rage, he sat in his boxer shorts and banged out a memoir of his experiences with God, stripped of the trappings of religion.

"Blue Like Jazz: Nonreligious Thoughts on Christian Spirituality" sold just enough to pay a few months rent. Then five years later, spurred by a grass-roots movement of 20-something Christians longing to connect to God without ties to the religious right, the book became a sudden hit.

Fans were buying caseloads and passing out copies to friends. It peaked at No. 18 on The New York Times list of best-sellers among paperback nonfiction in November. He was mobbed by fans after a recent Young Life conference in Orlando where he addressed a crowd of roughly 4,000.

>>I wouldn’t waste my time. He’s just another leftist with a rage problem.<<

How would you know if you haven’t read it?

They hay day of Progressive Democrats was the late 19th early 20th century. Most of them were Christian Fundamentalists (William Jennings Bryan).

It's not unilateral - just try saying you're a Progressive Democrat in your typical Evangelical church. People will look at you like you have a demon in you.

Considering what such leftists stand for, that's hardly surprising. The Bible says that thieves, robbers & the greedy will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Just another fad. “You can look, talk, and act like a Christian, but with none of that pesky morality or recognizing God’s word as authoritative truth!”

What do "progressive Demoracts" stand for, and I mean by their deeds, not words.

The differnce between the "Christian Right" and the "Christina Left." is that the CR lives in reality! :)

The CL cryes for the criminal and conveniently forgets about the VICTIM... which by the way, if not killed, must learn to LOVE THE CRIMINAL and be ready to turn his a** around so he can stick a knife on your other side!

The CL is the kind of people who live in constant GUILT... Because they feel they don't deserve it. etc, etc etc,

Conclusion: The CL must be wonderful if you are a saint or aspiring to be one... The rest of us, MUST LIVE AND DEAL WITH REALITY and still try to be the best we can be.

There is a difference :) (half-kidding :)

And they were not pro-abortion nor where they fanatic opponents of school prayer and Bible readings (and Christmas plays and manger sets).

When you identify yourself as a "progressive Democrat," a lot of inferences are drawn, usually justifiably so. Many of those traits are unequivocally anti-scriptural. Do you expect them to be celebrated by evangelicals?

Considering what such leftists stand for, that's hardly surprising. The Bible says that thieves, robbers & the greedy will not inherit the kingdom of God.

The ones who are going to inherit the Kingdom of God aren't those who not those who become conservative or liberal or progressive or democrat or republican.

The only ones who are going to inherit the Kingdom are the ones who become like little children ... trusting that, since they can't be good enough on their own - no matter what they do, their Father paid the price by sending His Son.
