The chief of staff for Detroit City Council President Pro Tem Monica Conyers tells WXYZ Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick should consider resigning over the text-sex scandal.

Or running for President?
monica conyers? any relation to the lifer rep?
Mayor AND Governor.
Councilwoman Martha Reeves said she doesn’t believe the scandal affects Kilpatrick’s ability to lead. “I can’t be concerned with a personal matter. This is five or six-year-old stuff,” she said.
Martha Reeves Should Also Resign, failing to understand the basic concept of the Rule of Law. What part of Lying Under Oath does she not understand?
Because they were sued in their roles as city officials, Kilpatrick and Beatty did not personally have to pay the costs from the $9-million legal fight.
What part of that does the councilwoman not understand....
His wife, I believe. Double-dippin at the public trough.
Anti-apartheid protestors didn’t dare criticize Coleman Young, either.
Notice nothing has been mentioned regarding the cost of the city’s defense attorneys. That is in addition to the $9 mil taxpayer expense on the lost case. And recall the infamous Lincoln Navigator Kwame’s wife received courtesy of Detroit. Was that a makeup gift? And the largest Mayoral security force ‘protecting’ the Mayor. More than any city mayor or governor in the U.S. etc....
Last summer, Kilpatrick and Beatty testified in a police whistleblower lawsuit and denied any sexual or romantic ties in 2002-03.
Mike Stefani, a lawyer for the officers, asked Beatty if she and Kilpatrick were “either romantically or intimately involved with each other” during the period covered by the case.
“No,” she replied.
Stefani asked Kilpatrick if he was “romantically involved with Christine Beatty” in 2002-03.
“No,” he replied.
At another point in his testimony, Kilpatrick expressed anger about claims of an affair between him and Beatty.
“I think it was pretty demoralizing to her you have to know her but it’s demoralizing to me as well,” the mayor said. “My mother is a congresswoman. There have always been strong women around me. My aunt is a state legislator. I think it’s absurd to assert that every woman that works with a man is a whore.
“I think it’s disrespectful not just to Christine Beatty but to women who do a professional job that they do every single day. And it’s also disrespectful to their families as well.”
Nothing to see here, just move along.
Was he texting with his earring in or out? Did he give his girlfriend one of the State Police Esclades?
I seem to remember that Hendrix was well ahead, then lost by a good margin, and that was followed by the firing of the corrupt official who cooked up Kwame’s phony victory. Just haven’t been able to find it.

But wait.... He’s a democrat, and a black one at that.
Morals don’t apply here. Those pesky little things are reserved only for Republicans.
There have always been strong women around me.s/b "wrapped around me".
I think it's absurd to assert that every woman that works with a man is a whore. That'll be a great line when he records his rap album.
I think it's disrespectful not just to Christine Beatty but to women who do a professional job that they do every single day. And it's also disrespectful to their families as well. Also, as well, what's his take on the disrespect he shows to his wife and Christine Beatty when he calls the latter a whore after he bangs her like a screen door?
If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
More on the mayoral debacle.
I don't see him stepping down. I doubt if he'll even get the investigation he so richly deserves.
