ESPN has issued a one-week suspension to anchorwoman Dana Jacobson for a profane rant at a celebrity roast in which she said, "F--- Jesus," according to sources.
The Chicago Tribune said the sports TV network declined to confirm the suspension, but ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said, "Her actions and comments were inappropriate and we've dealt with it."
The news came one day after WND reported a Catholic advocacy group charged the sports TV network had failed to take appropriate action and did not offer a sufficient apology for Jacobson's outburst, in which she "attacked Jesus Christ."
Jacobson, reportedly intoxicated, was speaking Jan. 11 at an event in Atlantic City, N.J., to honor ESPN Radio personalities Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic when she unleashed a tirade, saying, "F--- Notre Dame," "F--- Touchdown Jesus" and finally "F--- Jesus."
"Touchdown Jesus" is the popular moniker for a mural on Notre Dame's library featuring Jesus raising his arms.
Catholic League president Bill Donohue said yesterday he pressed ESPN on the issue and received an e-mail with an unsatisfactory statement by Jacobson.
The statement said, in part, "My remarks about Notre Dame were foolish and insensitive. I respect all religions and did not mean anything derogatory by my poorly chosen words."
Donohue contended the response "fails on several counts."

one week w/ pay....death if she said f-— mohammed
Bull****!!! Anyone who would say F*** Jesus hates Christianity and Christians. And if this person had said, F*** Martin Luther King, Jr., he/she would've been fired on the spot. MSM double standard on display once again.
If she had used the "N-word", just as I can't even say it here due to PC-concerns and search engines that look for it, she would have been fired, and ESPN would have Al Sharptoon and Jesse Jackass all over them. This is the depths to which we've sunk by the Liberal elitists mandated word-meaning-offense attack on Free Speech.....
The anti-Christian agenda of the mass media gets bolder day by day.
Now hear this... now hear this... **** abc and **** espn... that is all.
LLS
Generally people say outrageous thing at roasts and she was obviously making a joke about divine intervention on behalf of Notre Dame’s football team. But you’re right, if she made the same joke about one of the libs’ sacred cows she would be gone.
So Jesus ranks behind black women basketball players when it comes who you can insult?
All righty then
If a man had said that he'd be fired.
Or, if she had said something about blacks, she'd be fired.
This is what happens when you allow the insanity of PC to take hold. It's true free speech, especially when it's offensive. What we've done as a nation is become desensitized because we're not willing to measure any longer. No one will fight for a standard.
A weeks suspension?
Had I slammed Jews or Muslims on ANY network I’d be kicked off t.v. forever but I guess it is ok to be anti Christian.
E.S.P.N. should be ashamed.
gee where are the REVERENDS Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. As “men of the cloth” you would think they would put as much energy into fighting religious bigotry as they do perceived racial bigotry.
I’m not so bent up about any light or non-punitive reaction by her employer. She just may receive a more serious punishment many years from now. I’ll let Jesus handle that.
I’m not saying I wish that on her, I’m just saying she’ll have to deal with her words in front of a higher-level executive than the ones that sit in the HR department at ABC.
Suspension? Frankly, I’d prefer the host be fired for being too stupid to be trusted on-air.
Or, if she’d said “F___ Mohammed” she’d be dead.
I feel sorry for Dana Jacobson ...she is a Troubled Woman!
publicly Drunk.. swearing to be one of the Guys and Playing up the Undercurrent of Hatred By ESPN to Conservatives... Just watch Outside the Lines..
