HUNTER ENDORSES HUCKABEE FOR PRESIDENTFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 23, 2008CONTACT: Gary Becks (619) 334-1655Washington, D.C. - - - Congressman Duncan Hunter, who withdrew his candidacy for the Republican Presidential nomination on January 19, 2007 , today endorsed Mike Huckabee."I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America's industrial base.""Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.# # #

Thanks for an upbeat post!
What are the choices for him? All four of the remainding candidates have serious warts in the shamnesty department. Tancredo chose Mitt who voiced support for McCain's bill but has since allegedly seen the light. Hunter chose Huck who supported state programs for illegals but has since allegedly seen the light.
Hunter's endorsement just shows how bleak the currently reality is for all of us. If you drink beer instead of Kool-Aid, the choices are sobering. A waste of good beer and a waste of the GOP nominating process.
Duncan took his ball and went home.
Despicable.
You say that like it is a bad thing.
Did you see what I was responding to?
It was specific to CA.
My bet is hickabee is grasping for straws. Needed a boost and hence called up DH and offered him VP in exchange.
He would make a good Homeland Secretary if his words ring true.
That’s gay.
“His endorsement isnt enough to get me to vote for Huckabee, however, but it does make me think and wonder what I may be missing.”
And no one can ask for more than that. The willingness to reassess is encouraging, even if you don’t go my way. Bless you, this is uplifting.
“The reaction to Hunter’s endorsement of Huckabee here on FR is starting to scare me. I have never seen such a fickle group in my entire life.”
Preach! I often wonder if FR hasn’t cast away alot of their most sane members while imagining they were enemies. The “pure” who have stayed are revealing themselves to be unstable idiots. Even if they are right at times who could count on them in a crisis?
Just gross...well and maybe a little gay. But not nearly as gross as what Hunter has done to the Conservatives of his party.
This is meant to try and sway people to vote shmuckabee. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN.
“What a bunch of unproven BS. He said he was against Romney because a company......”
Be honest with this forum. You were already a Romney supporter, and that is why you call his reasons BS.
With 10 months to go until the election, and in one simple sentence, you have declared that your opinion has nothing to bring to the conversation but pessimism and an attitude of defeat. Ain't buying what you've got to sell, thank-you very much.
Nah! Florida is going Romney. That leaves Giuliani as AG and Huck as Ketchup Steward.
“Duncan Hunter is GOOD. Maybe he knows something that you do not.”
Maybe he should tell everyone what that is then. Duncan was a fierce warrior for the border. Huck calls it unChristian to turn away illegals and makes a deal with Mexico for a consulate at a rate most Americans would die for. Might as well say he gave it to them. That consulate allows for IDs.
How can Hunter put that together with the strong stance he took? Color me confused. That is why the shock. Its a valid questioning of something Duncan was so vehement about. The other thing that Duncan was standing strong on was China. He swiped at Romney for his record of doing business, yet gives Huck a pass for his record of doing business south of the border? HUH?
