Duncan Hunter Endorses Mike Huckabee
National Review Online ^ | 1-23-08 | Byron York

Posted on 01/23/2008 12:29:02 PM PST by TitansAFC

This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:

"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America‚s industrial base."

"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.

Gitmo is too darn good.

Good for what? The Supreme Court has stripped it of all its advantages.

I’d like to know EXACTLY how Huckabee is defining “no amnesty” these days! To-date, his version has been a touchback scheme along the lines of the Pence Plan. If that is what Duncan Hunter is endorsing, something is VERY wrong with this picture.

I still think it’s ‘Maria Shriver Syndrome.’

Hunter’s WIFE likes Huckabee.

Dang, even the conservatives don’t want conservatives running.

I feel like I"m in an episode of The Twilight Zone.

Read the rest out loud Mike wins this one and you are spinning it. Your post name best sums up that remark.

Romney flipped on abortion years ago and acted on his conversion while in office by taking pro-life actions. His actual record supports and validates his conversion.

On the other hand, Huckabee has had an on the road to Tallahassee(even later than an on the road to Des Moines) epiphany which doesn't match his rhetoric or his ACTIONS while in office.

You and the other person that listened to his show must have enjoyed it.

Struck a nerve did I?

"Well, if he wanted the VP spot, he should have endorsed someone else as most of us think Huck can’t possibly make it."

Did you ever consider that most of us think isn't working properly?  Although I have to admit this endorsement has me wondering whether to scratch my watch or wind my arse.  :-)

If Hunter and Huckabee weren’t in touch, I doubt Hunter’s wife would like him, much. Think about it.

I guess there is a reason Hunter never made it out of the starting blocks.

So, Rush was right. He didn't want to endorse someone in case they dropped out and endorsed someone he was against. I"m glad I backed Tancredo instead of Hunter all along (not that it made one whit of difference, but at least I feel better about it!)

Rush has no credibility anymore since he became a national embarrassment. His "doom and gloom" pessimism is as un-Reagan-like as it comes.

You have NO idea what you're talking about... He's the most optimistic guy out there.

If it turns out to be Huckabee you will see Rush support Huckabee.

Australia is more socialist and has a stronger left wing than the U.S. does, far as I know. They just elected a left winger for PM.

And even they are smart enough to control immigration and only let in those with the skills they need and that will assimilate.
